The DAA Northwest Spec Motor Late Model Series presented by Sherwin Williams invades the beautiful Sunset Speedway Park in Banks, Oregon this Saturday Night for the running of the T& G Thriller in memory of the late Doug Walters. The event which will be the twelfth race of the series, will race be 67 laps, the number 67 was Doug’s number when he was driving. Drivers competing in the series will compete for over $ 150,000 in prize and points fund money. The series will pay $5,000.00 to the 2010 Champion.
There have been six drivers who have picked up main event wins this year, current points leader Greg Walters leads the way with four wins, Jason Wines and Russ Sell each have two wins. Sell picked up his second win of the year last Saturday at Willamette Speedway, single main events have been won by Jerry Schram, Billy Workman Jr and Casey Vitale.
Walters from Banks continues to lead the point standings with 567 points, last year champion Jason Wines from Lebanon has closed in on Walters and only trails him by 9 points at 558. Russ Sell from Brownsville sits in third place with 552 points, 15 back of the leader. Vancouver’s Jerry Schram and Brady Sell continue to battle for fourth position, this week Schram has a one point lead 530 to 529 over Sell.
Other drivers expected to challenge for the win include Vancouver, WA. driver’s Jimmy Schram, Brandon Biffle, along with Brandon’s dad Jeff Biffle. Oregon drivers Billy Workman Jr, from Canby, Lebanon’s Brett James, Salem’s Terry Ferrando, and Britton Donahoo, Kris Pickle from Sweethome, the Trout brothers, from Banks, Bob and Doug along with Beaverton’s Brittany Ray.
The pits open 1:00 pm, front gate will open at 2:30 pm, Time trials at 3:00 pm, with racing to start at 5:00. Admission prices for Saturday: Adults $14.00, Sr/Mil with ID $10.00, child 6-13 $5.00, 5 and under free, Family Pass (2 Adults & 2 child) $30
