MORIARITY BACK IN VICTORY CIRCLE AT EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY

MONROE, Washington — Tom Moriarity won the Whelen All American Series Super Late Model main at Evergreen Speedway on Saturday August 14th. The NASCAR Whelen All American Series Street Stock division had twin 25-lap mains with Travis Blackwood winning the first and Darrel Lutovsky winning the second. The Cub Scouts of America Hornet main winner was Patrick Heald. The Super Figure Eight main was won by Ricky Dietz.

Moriarity took the lead on lap one of the 40-lap Super Late Model main. It was a bold move exiting turn two that got Moriarity the lead. In the post race interview Moriarity said, “The door was open and I held my breath that it would stay open.” Daniel Moore finished second while Jeff Knight finished third.

In race one of the twin bill for the Street Stocks; Blackwood made good use of his newer tires by winning the 25-lap main convincingly. Joe Kneeland finished second and Lane Sundholm was third. In race number two, Lutovsky made a bold move early by going three wide to grab the lead that he would never relinquish for the remainder of the 25-lap main. Frank Cowgill finished second just ahead of Sundholm.

The Hornet 25-lap main winner Heald had his hands full trying to hold back Mike Daher. They swapped the lead many times. Heald finally shut the door with three laps to go. Point leader Jamie Corbett finished third.

Dietz made a late race pass to win the 25-lap Super Figure Eight main. Jake Repin led a major portion of the race but a slight mistake is all it took for Dietz to take advantage of. Repin finished second. Seth Funden finished third.
