UW SUPERTRUCK TO CHALLENGE THE MESA MAIN 1/2 MILE

The fans at Bakersfield’s Mesa Marin Raceway are in for quite a show Satuday night, June 2nd. Both the Central Region and Southern Region of the Ultra Wheels Super Trucks will meet at Mesa and be running for points that apply to their particular region.

The Ultra Wheels Super Trucks will be appearing with the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series – a series that many of the Super Truck racers have advanced to. A man on a mission this season is #95 Dan Moore, who is currently 2nd in Southern points, top qualified at the April 21st UW Super Truck race at Mesa Marin.

Dave Blankenship #47 captured the first win of the season for the trucks at Mesa Marin in March and is the Southern Division points leader. Holding the points lead in the Central Division is #77 Greg Adler who finished 5th and 3rd at the Mesa Marin races this year. Kevin O’Neil is holding down the 7th place in points for both regions with a top five and four top 10 finishes this season. Bryan Araki #43 brought home a top 10 finish at Mesa in March, his first race in the UW Super Truck Series – he has proven to be a quick study. Mark Laeger #50 (last years Rookie of the Year in both regions) is sitting 3rd in points in the South with his 5 top 10 finishes and 2 top 5’s.

Also with 2 top 5’s is #18 Bill Helgeson, along with 4 top 10’s and a trophy dash win to his name this year. Scott Calvin #58 has two top 10 finishes on this track this year – Thane Alderman #09 and Reggie Church #57 each have one top 10 from the two race dates the trucks have had at Mesa Marin this year.

Jon Campbell #25, last years Southern California Champ, has a quick time as well as a couple of wins at Mesa and will be back to dazzle the crowd this weekend. Jim McGill #7 has top qualified several times at Mesa Marin (as well as other tracks) and won trophy dashes, but the Main Event win on this ½ miles track has always eluded McGill – perhaps that will change this Saturday night. With a full field of Ultra Wheels Super Trucks running for 75 laps it will be a thrilling show no matter who takes the checkered flag first!
