ROSEVILLE, California — Five-time USAC champion Tony Hunt is looking forward to racing this weekend at All American Speedway. Hunt won the last time he raced at AAS on June 27, and is looking for another win this weekend.
"It's a pretty racy track," Hunt said. "It's close competition. You've got to have your car right to get around at AAS. It's a challenging race track."
Hunt is leading in USAC point standings coming into Roseville, with a comfortable 49-point lead. He has three wins so far this year and hasn't finished out of the top three all year.
This is Hunt's second year running an optional Chevy spec motor. The team has worked out all the bugs, he says, and is in a position to be competitive week in and week out.
Racing with Hunt in the USAC race at AAS this weekend, former IndyCar driver Davey Hamilton will be driving Tony Hunt's second Sprint Car at All American. Hamilton won championships in Super Modifieds and the famed Copper World Classic three times.
He competed regularly as an IndyCar driver from 1996-2001. Hamilton's life changed after a crash at Texas Motor Speedway in which he nearly lost his feet and legs. After 21 operations and two years of rehabilitation, Hamilton returned to IndyCar racing at the Indianapolis 500 in May 2007. Hamilton competed in this year's Indy 500, but was involved in a crash that ended his day on the first lap.
Since 2003, Hamilton has been the preferred driver of the Indy Racing Experience, a two-seater style Indy Car in which fans can take rides at various tracks throughout the United States. He also provides driver analysis for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network.
Also racing this weekend will be NCMA Sprint Cars, Legends of the Pacific and Ford Focus Midgets. For more information go to: www.allamericanspeedway.com.
