DAYTONA BEACH, Fl — Thursday, August 19, 2010) - Another great weekend of racing is on tap this weekend in the American Speed Association. Here is a look at what is happening.
ASA MIDWEST TOUR (Super Late Models, Sportsman, Trucks)
(Marshfield Motor Speedway, Marshfield, WI)
All three of the ASA Midwest Tour divisions will be in action this Saturday night at the half-mile track located west of Marshfield, WI. Tim Schendel, who won the last Super Late Model event, won the ASAMT race at Marshfield in September, 2008. There is a tight points battle in the Sportsman division and John Wood will be looking at five in a row in the trucks.
ASA NORTHWEST SPRINT CAR RACING ASSOCIATION SPRINT CAR SERIES
(Western Speedway, Victoria, BC, Canada)
The stars of the asphalt winged-sprint car series will go north of the border for the 50th Annual Daffodil Cup on Friday and Saturday. Matt Hein, fresh off his last last win at Euphrata, will be looking for two in a row. He is also working towards his third straight ASA NSRA Championship.
ASA INTERNATIONAL RACING ASSOCIATION
(Wilmot Raceway, Wilmot, WI)
The ASA IRA Sprints will make another visit to Wilmot Raceway for a Saturday night showdown. The 410 winged sprints always put on a great show.
ASA MEMBER TRACKS
It's Students & Teacher Appreciation Night this Friday night. All teachers who show their school ID will get half price admission. Racing! Games! And Lots More!!! Grandstands open at 6 p.m. with racing at 8 p.m.
BIG COUNTRY SPEEDWAY
It will be a busy weekend at Wyoming's popular asphalt oval. On Saturday, it's a regular program with Late Models, Super Stocks, Mod 4's, Warriors, Legends, Mini Cups, and Trailer Race. Racing gets underway at 6 p.m.
CORPUS CHRISTI SPEEDWAY
(Corpus Christi, TX)
A full racing program is on tap this Saturday night. The Bombers, Front Runners, Sport Mods, Super Street, and Texas Thunder will all be in action. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with racing at 8:00 p.m.
DELLS RACEWAY PARK
(Wisconsin Dells, WI)
It's Full Moon Fever this Saturday night. The Late Models, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Bandits and Six Shooters will be in action. Gates open at 4 p.m., qualifying at 4:30 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m.
DESOTO SUPER SPEEDWAY
Desoto is back in action this Saturday night! The Pure Stocks, Modified Mini's, Street Stocks, Bombers, Mini Stocks, Flyin 4's, Magic 4's, and Trophy Dash Cars will be in action. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
DILLON MOTOR SPEEDWAY
It's Fan Appreciation Night with $5.00 grandstand admission. The Super Trucks, Chargers, Allison Legacy, Mini Cups, and 4-cylinders will be in action. Racing gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
EAST BAY RACEWAY PARK
ASA Sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, Aug. 28th, 2010. Racing divisions include Gagels' Auto Parts Open Wheel Modifieds, Precision Kia Street Stocks, Outlaw 4s, motiorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers, Dirt Daubers and Old time Modifieds.
GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY
It's Extreme night this Saturday night. Monster Trucks, Metal Mulisha Motor X Rider Justin Hofman and Mud Drags. Tickets on sale now at the track's website. Front gate opens at 4:30 p.m. with racing at 6:30 p.m.
HARTFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Community Hero's Night is this Friday night. The UMP Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Stock Cars, and Pure Stocks will be in action. Grandstands open at 6 p.m. with racing at 8 p.m.
There is a Figure 8 Firestorm this Saturday night. The last Figure 8 show of 2010. The Grand American Modifieds, Sportsmans, Street Stocks and Dwarf Cars will also be in action.
ILLIANA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
The Illiana Motor Speedway an ASA Member track, will host the 8th Annual Canine and Feline food drive this Saturday night Aug 21st. Fans and competitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable pet food item to the speedway ticket office where they will receive tickets for a chance to win prizes and free race credentials to a future event at the speedway. The donations will be distributed to area shelters to help offset the cost of caring for less fortunate abandon animals. "This project is close and dear to my heart," stated Rhonda Alger track operations manager, an avid animal lover who heads the drive. The humane society and animal shelters will be on hand with information on how to adopt a pet. Make plans to attend an action packed night at the races this Sat. Nite while helping the cause. The gates open Saturday at 4:00 p.m., with time trials set for 5:30 p.m. and the first race getting the green flag at 7:00 p.m. Six Division feature races will highlight the program Including Schepel Buick GMC Super Late Model, Schepel Performance Late Model, VanSenus Auto Parts Turbo Street Stocks, INEX Legends, Make It Straight Pure Stocks and Bandoleros. LEBANON I-44 SPEEDWAY
The Monster Energy Chase for the Cup will resume this Saturday night. Gates will open at 5 followed by hot laps at 6 and racing at 7:30. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $6 for juniors, and 10 and under is free. Tier Parking on the Budweiser Wild side is $12 for adults, $7 for juniors and children 10 and under are free. There is a $2 discount for all military and senior citizens over the age of 62.
LONESOME PINE RACEWAY
Racing action returns on August 28th with the Faster Pastor race. Any interested Pastors that would like to compete should call the track office for more information.
MADISON INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY
A full racing program is scheduled for this Friday night with all five racing divisions in action. Pit gates open at 3:30 with hot laps at 4:45, qualifying at 6:15 and racing at 7:30.
Domino's Pizza Night is this Saturday night. The Late Models, Sprint Cars, Pro-4's and Junior Stingers will be in action. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with racing at 6:30 p.m.
The 10th Annual Fan Appreciation Night is this Friday night. A full racing program is on tap with the annual children's nickel toss. Late Models, Street Stocks, Slammers and Fab 4's will be in action. Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.
ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY
(San Bernardino, CA)
This will be a pivotal weekend in the battle between Ron Daniel and Jeff Peterson for the JAM Sportswear Late Models championship at Orange Show Speedway and consideration for the Joe Gibbs Driven racing Oil ASA member Track National Championship. Daniel will take a 7-point lead over Peterson into the twin 50-lap main events, but needs to find a way to slow the momentum of the 19-year-old rookie who has three wins and two seconds in the past five races. Also on the program are the Pick-A-Part Street Stocks, Budweiser Legends Cars and M.C. Erectors Bandoleros before the evening ends with a Drag Boat race. It will be a Trailer race without trailers. Instead the boats will be chained to the cars and dragged over a Figure 8 course that has been wet down. Spectator gates will open at 4 p.m. PDT with the first race at 7 pm. The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series Late Models will return to Rocky Mountain Raceways, an ASA Member Track, on Saturday, August 21 for the NAPA 125. Dex Mini Cups, Pro Race Trucks, Figure-8 Cars and Western States Equipment Figure-8 Trains will also be running on Saturday, August 21. Gates open at 4 p.m., qualifying begins at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Adult admission is $15 and youth admission (5-12) is $5.
SHANGRI LA II MOTOR SPEEDWAY

The Race of Champions Modified Series, the premier tour in New York State for pavement modifieds, invades the Concrete Castle for the second of two visits, matching the touring stars against Shangri-La II's own mod squad standouts. The 100-lap RoC main event will be joined by the ASA Late Models and Street Stocks, plus the INEX Legends.
The ASA All Star Challenge presented by WSIB Motorsports -- Scouting Night!!! -- 410 & 360 Sprints, Sportsman Sprints, Hornets this Saturday night. It's KENOSHA COUNTY FAIR week! Lots of cool stuff going on at the raceway. Line X of Kenosha presents Truck/Tractor Pulls and the popular Combine Demo Derby on Wednesday & Thursday Aug 18-19. Friday features 3 of the regular competing Wilmot Raceway divisions including the Goodyear 410 Sprints, Don's Auto Parts & Machine / Bassett Hound Modifieds, and the R.A. Adams Enterprises Street Stocks. Saturday brings in the Upper-Midwest's premier touring series as the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints headline with support from the Fec's Place Mini-Sprints and Wilmot Raceway's own Fearless 4's. Then Sunday afternoon and evening it's the big Kenosha County Fair Demolition Derby. Come on out to the FAIR and enjoy some great Motorsports entertainment.
