West Valley City, Utah -- Eric Rhead of West Jordan, Utah claimed his second CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series win at Rocky Mountain Raceway’s NAPA 125 on Saturday, August 21.
Rhead battled his way to the end of the 125-lap race. Starting in the second position, Rhead had a strong lead for the first part of the race. Battling side-by-side with Jeff Hillock, Bruce Quale, and Steve Jones Rhead relinquished his lead in lap 71 to Hillock. A yellow caution in lap 121 gave Rhead a second opportunity and he muscled his way to the checkered flag. Jeff Hillock followed in a close second, with John Newhouse in third.
Kenneth Smith of Taylorsville, Utah also went home a winner tonight. This lucky fan won an all expense paid trip to the Coca-Cola Racing Family Reunion, courtesy of Rocky Mountain Raceways and Coca-Cola. Smith randomly picked Rhead as the winning late model prior to the NAPA 125 and was ecstatic as Rhead crossed the finish line.
