Friday night belonged to The Wild Child at Skagit Speedway. Aboard the Owens Corning Fiberglass #R19 XXX, Jac Haudenschild won his third World of Outlaws A Feature of the year in front of a rowdy crowd in the 30 lap Main Event. The Wooster, OH native led from the outset, setting the pace over the first nine laps of the feature before Kerry Madsen lost a rear end on the front straightaway. On the restart, San Jose, CA native Tim Kaeding took the lead, blasting by Haudenschild on the high side of turn two to take the point in the DTR Transport #83 KPC. Haudenschild was undeterred, keeping Kaeding close before making his move as the two entered traffic. Haudenschild reassumed the lead on lap 17, with the two drivers trading moves in and amongst traffic before Jac secured the point for keeps on the 19th circuit. After enduring a lap 25 restart, it was all Haudenschild, as the driver of the Carnahan Motorsports #R19 picked up his first Skagit Speedway victory and third of the year with the World of Outlaws. Heartbreak ensued for Kaeding on the final lap of the race, as the power plant expired in his Roth Motorsports mount, allowing Bartlett, TN native Jason Sides to catch and pass him for second in the Wetherington Tractor Service #7s Maxim. To add insult to injury, Kaeding’s mufflers came off toward the end of the race, causing him to be scored last on the field under World of Outlaws rules. Donny Schatz was the major beneficiary of the ruling, crediting the Fargo, ND resident with a third place finish in the Armor All/STP #15 J&J. Sam Hafertepe Jr won the last chance showdown. Kaeding won the dash. Heat race wins went to Schatz, World of Outlaws point’s leader Joey Saldana, Jason Meyers, and 20 time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser. Kerry Madsen set quick time at 11.281.
The Pull A Part Outlaw Hornets were the companion class to the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and when the dust settled, Ben Gunderson was on top of the hornet mountain for the seventh time on the year. Rick Young finished second and Matt Ploeg took third.
