KALISPELL, Montana — After five months of racing and intense competition six drivers have a chance to claim the 2010 Lucas Oil Super Late Model championship at Montana Raceway Park. Their season concludes with Saturday night’s Last Stand 125 presented by Miller Lite and Town Pump.
Alex Lessor leads Bodie Morton by five points with Wrango West holding down third place (-31), David Garber in fourth place (-39) and veterans, Mark Owens and Cory Wolfe tied for fifth place (-51) heading into the season finale.
With the August 28 late model event rained out the season finale should feature door-to-door racing action as each driver that qualifies for the A-Main stands to net a minimum of $500 to start the race courtesy of TTC Thornton.
While the attention will be on the front running drivers Hingham, Montana’s Ryan Wells has certainly impressed his peers this season en route to the Rookie of the Year title. Wells has improved from week to week and had the Aug. 28 race taken place may have been a factor with his
top-5 qualifying effort. Holding down tenth place in the championship standings Wells will be out to advance in the standings through the course of the year’s last final race for the division.
Also racing this weekend will be the MRP Thunder Roadsters, Hobby Stocks and Bandoleros.
Scott Lee and Zach Havens are locked in a tight race for the 2010 Thunder Roadster championship. The final race in the division’s season precludes the late model 125-lap event.
Lee holds an 11-point advantage over Havens with points scored in qualifying, heat racing and the main event. Dave Daughtry sits in third place just 41 points out of first place with Josh Levitt locked in fourth place and John Logan rounding out the top-5.
Dustin Martel and Ed Linn are separated by 18 points heading into their season championship Hobby Stock race. Brandon Martel is also in the mix as he sits 41 points behind Dustin but a mere 23 markers behind Linn for second.
Josh Davis and Dave Oldham round out the top-5 running order.
Dalton Halden and Tristan Corpron will take their fight for the 2010 Bandolero championship into this weekend’s season finale for the division.
Halden maintains a 24-point lead on Corpron with newcomer Todd Holleman sitting third, Brock Denny fourth and Nino Robinette rounding out the top-5.
During intermission Miller Lite and Town Pump will be drawing for the winner of the annual Harley Davidson motorcycle giveaway. Displays and other prizes will be on site to support the yearly event.
