NOTES OF INTEREST:
- John Dillon, Garrett Evans, and Tobey Butler have five career victories on the .500-paved tri-oval of Tri-City Raceway. Ron Eaton and Gary Lewis are next with three wins apiece.
- Evans is the career leader in Bud Pole Awards at Tri-City Raceway. The Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series has run in West Richland, Wash. every year since its inception in 1985. In that time, Evans has seven pole awards, followed by Eaton with five.
- In the history of Tri-City Raceway and NASCAR, some of the regions best drivers have claimed victory on the .500-paved tri-oval. Among those are Chad Little, Derrick Cope, Tobey Butler, Kelly Tanner, Jeff Krough, and Dirk Stevens. All have gone up the ladder in NASCAR to drive on some the premier series of the sport. Former track champion and series veteran, Greg Biffle, is currently running on the Busch Series.
- Chevrolet leads the manufacturer standings in wins at Tri-City Raceway. In 35 events, Chevrolet has 20 wins followed by Pontiac with eight. Ford has captured six wins while Oldsmobile has one.
STAT OF THE WEEK:
- Since 1995, Tri-City Raceway has produced four first time winners. The most recent driver to accomplish the feat was Chris Hart in 1999. Others who have won for the first time in their career on the tri-oval include Martin Rosler and Marc Groskreutz. Chris Cunningham has two wins on the series, both coming at Tri-City Raceway.
2000 IN REVIEW:
- Joe Benedetti took the early lead from pole-sitter, Garrett Evans, and stayed out front for 36 laps. Chris Hart moved in front on lap 37 before John Dillon would overtake the Yakima, Wash. native on lap 41. Dillon earned the Gatorade Front Runner Award for leading the most laps, tallying 84 circuits around the .500-paved tri-oval.
