SAN JOSE, California — Nick Foster Jr. of San Jose, CA has a 492-point lead over second-place Dillon Silverman with two races to go, which guarantees Foster his second Bay Cities Racing Association Midget Championship in three years. Car owner Jim Fowler of San Carlos, CA has a 789-point lead over Dave LaMott, which guarantees his third straight BCRA Midget car owners championship. Both Nick and Jim join new lists of multiple time BCRA Champions.
Nick won his first BCRA Midget championship in 2008. He also has picked up two wins this year, on both dirt and pavement, in April at Placerville Speedway and July at Lakeport Speedway. “I have to start by thanking Jim for letting me drive for him the last three years” says Foster. “And Dad, Sonny, all the guys at the shop, and Norm Rapp, selling us tires from 1 in the morning to whenever, 1 in the afternoon.” Next year, Nick plans to race as much as he can and keeps having fun.
Jim has won the owner championship the last two years with Nick as his driver. “Nick has improved so much in the last three years, and continues to improve every race. We finally have a real good set-up with this (combo-car) car, especially at Madera.”
“I’m happy for the team” says Jim. “They’ve worked so hard this year, working nights and days, and whenever needed to work on the race car.” The team is supported by Windows Unlimited, Tack Shop Upholstery, Norm Rapp Racing, Nick Foster Sr. and Nick’s uncle Dennis Foster. “I’ve really enjoyed this year with BCRA” continues Jim, “next year we’re gonna do things a little different, focus on running some of the big shows like Turkey Night.” “Racing for points is so demanding and everyone gets so stressed, but we’ve had so much fun.”
Most importantly Jim wants everyone to know that this was all possible because of his team. “We’re blessed with a good team. All this is because of them.”
