LUCAS OIL I 10 SPEEDWAY TO PRESENT A FULL EVENING OF WINTER BLAST RACING THIS SATURDAY

The Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway will open its spectator gates this Saturday, October 16th, to present round two of its 2010-2011 Winter Blast Racing Series. The quarter mile paved oval, located at the Colorado River Fairgrounds in Blythe-California, will treat its fans to a full evening of action from their street stock, factory stock and ladies' factory stock divisions. The speedway will also be presenting vintage sprint and midget cars from the WRA, Western Racing Association. The racing will be presented by Ace Towing and Recovery. The night has also been dedicated to saying thank you to the men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol for their dedicated service.

The street stock division will essentially be racing for double points Saturday night because they will be running twin 25 lap main events. Local driver Danny Dill won the speedway's season opener two weeks ago and will be looking for a second and third win this week.

But he will have plenty of competition from speedway veterans Richard Selph and D J Lonie both, of whom, are not strangers to checkered flags at this race track. Series rookies Chris Vindhurst and Connor Sprawls, who moved up from the factory stock division this year, are also expected to be players in the twin mains as well.

The fan favorite factory stocks, with their racing is rubbing philosophy, is expected to have a full field again. Roger White won the season opener and is expected to be a major player in the division's A main this Saturday. But there's going to be plenty of competition from other division drivers who have plans of their own to be the first to see the checkers. That includes Robert Spivey, Joe Van Dyke, Adam Solice and John Markam just to name a few.

The Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway will be bringing back the days of yesteryear Saturday night with the special appearance of the Western Racing Association, (WRA). Often referred to as a moving museum, this non profit organization is dedicated to the preservation of vintage sprint and midget race cars. These are the very same cars that helped create the open wheel racing phenomenon that we enjoy today. Just looking at these perfectly restored cars is a genuine thrill within itself. Now imagine getting to see them race just like they did back in their glory days.

The owners and drivers of these race cars are genuine characters who love to meet with the fans to talk about their racers. You will be able to do exactly that during the pre race autograph session. For more information about this unique moving museum, dial up their official website at www.westernracing.com.

The Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway's Winter Blast weekend will officially get underway on Friday night with a test and tune session, from 6 to 9 pm, for all of the racing divisions. This session is free to spectators. On Saturday race day, the spectator gates will open at 5 pm with the racing getting underway at 7 pm.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors age 55 plus, the military and the handicapped. Teen tickets, ages 13 to 17, are $5 while kids tickets, ages 6 to 12, are $3. Kids five and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult. The speedway also offers a family pack for $20 that admits two adults and two kids. Students from Palo Verde High School can receive a $1 discount by presenting their ASB cards.
