
ROSEVILLE, California — The SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series will be at Roseville’s All-American Speedway this Saturday night for the ninth race of the 2010 championship.

NEWS and NOTES:
• CHAMPIONSHIP LEADER: Twin Falls, Idaho’s Jonathon Gomez started the 2010 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series with one career start in the SRL. Coming into this weekend’s event, Gomez has two series wins with six consecutive top fives and the series points lead.
• CHAMPIONSHIP TOP TEN: Current SRL Top 10 Championship Driver Standings – Gomez 1259, Jim Pettit 1188, Derek Thorn 1186, Ryan Foster 1142, Keith Spangler 1090, Jacob Gomes 1082, Brennan Newberry 1057, Ross Strmiska 983, Kyle Cattanach 971 and Joe Farre’ with 966 points.
• DOUBLE-DUTY: Six SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series drivers will pull double-duty this Saturday by driving in both the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series event and the K&N Pro Series race. Those drivers include; SRL point leader Jonathon Gomez, K&N Pro Series point leader Eric Holmes, SRL rookie leader Jacob Gomes, Troy Ermish, Thomas Martin, and Travis Milburn.
• PAST RACE WINNERS: Past SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series race winners at All-American Speedway include; Troy Ermish – March 29, 2008, M.K. Kanke – April 4, 2009 and Derek Thorn – March 27, 2010.
• DRIVE FOR DIVERSITY: Three young drivers of the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series were chosen to take part in the “Drive for Diversity” combine this weekend at Motor Mile Speedway in Virginia. Cole Cabrera, Dallas Montes and Ryan Reed were among 30 drivers picked nationally to be part of the try-out style format hosted by Revolution Racing.
• K&N YOUNG GUNS CHAMPIONSHIP: The race for the 2010 K&N Young Guns championship for drivers 23 years and younger is a three-way battle with Jacob Gomes leading with 687 points, followed by Brennan Newberry with 672 and Ross Strmiska close behind with 659.
• ROOKIE LEADERS: Fourteen SRL rookies have competed in 2010, with Gomes leading the Victory Circle Chassis Rookie-of-the-Year standings with 1082 points, followed by Strmiska at 983 and Carlos Vieira with 940.
• LEGENDS: Cale Kanke is holding the top spot of the SRL Legends Tour championship with 1385 points, followed closely by Austin Reed with 1320.
• TIMES: Spectator gates open at 3:00pm, with SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series qualifying at 4:35pm, K&N Pro Series qualifying at 5:30pm, SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series 100 lap event at 6:50pm, K&N Pro Series 150 lap event at 8:30pm.
