GALT, California — With low funds but high goals, and a shot from John Gomez, Juan Pitta from Galt, CA proves he is a contender in the Nascar K&N Pro Series.
Just two weeks ago Pitta and his crew received an assembled car from the Heritage Motorsports stable. Juan ran the car from his own program and team lead by veteran crew chief Roger Bracken.
On race day the team found themselves in the top ten in both practice sessions. The team quickly made changes and Pitta was able to lay down a time of 13.937 putting him 9th on the grid which was said by many one of the most stellar lineups the track had seen.
Pitta held his own and kept his nose clean and by lap 50 Pitta was up to the 3rd position. With a race running 61 of the 150 laps under caution, it hurt Pitta who had a car more suited for the long runs.
" I was learning so much on the restarts. We were getting stuck on the bottom grove all night which really hurt us. Roger coached me along and gave me great pointers and we were able to rebound from our positions lost." Juan stated
With the laps winding down Juan worked the outside lane and fought his way to a 5th place finish in his series debut.
" It was a great night! We worked together as a team and made the most out of this opportunity. I hope it can open up some doors for next year. I know with hard work you can achieve what you believe in."
