CHAD BOAT, NEW CREW CHIEF SET FOR HOMETOWN WIN

PHOENIX, Arizona — With two career USAC National Midget starts to his credit at Phoenix International Raceway, Chad Boat will rely on experience both at the track and behind the wheel of his #30 Chevrolet when the K&N Pro Series competes at the famous mile.

"Racing on a track you’ve run before is always easier, even if it’s in a different car. I just hope I can capitalize on my knowledge of the track at PIR and get the finish the team deserves."Chad Boat

With the backing of local sponsors, Boat’s sights are set firmly on Victory Lane after he flies past the checkered flag at the 3 Amigos Tequila 125.

“It’s an honor to have two successful companies like Parker Store and The Room Store sponsor me at PIR,” said Boat. “Both have supported my open-wheel racing, and I’m excited to have their continued support in my stock car career as well.”

Interim Crew Chief Bill Wilburn will take on the role as Crew Chief for the Billy Boat Motorsports team at PIR. A 25-year veteran of the sport, Wilburn brings knowledge and experience as he has racked up a wealth of personal NASCAR wins.

“I think the greatest advantage Chad and I have is that we both have experience at PIR,” said Wilburn. “We have that past experience to lean on, now we can focus on building on it.”

According to Boat, Wilburn’s talents put the team in a stronger position than ever, and the hometown locale should give him an edge too.

“Racing on a track you’ve run before is always easier, even if it’s in a different car,” Boat said. “I just hope I can capitalize on my knowledge of the track at PIR and get the finish the team deserves.”

The 3 Amigos Tequila 125 goes green at 6 pm, immediately following the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday. Practice and qualifying fill Thursday’s schedule, while a ‘West Series Garage Open House’ will run from 12-5 PM on Friday.

Fans are welcome to stop by the Billy Boat Motorsports pit area to meet Chad as well as the rest of the stars of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.
