ANTELOPE, Ca — ‘It’s a wrap’ for the No. 16 Hasa Pool Products/White Flyer Toyota team from Bill McAnally Racing. Driver Moses Smith and the team’s 2010 race season concluded at Phoenix International Raceway on November 13th. Smith finished fourth in the chase for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship.
"Over 250 Hasa customers and fans of the two-time series Most Popular Driver came out to watch the race."
Under the lights of the one-mile speedway of Phoenix International Raceway (PIR), Smith would start the 125 lap race on row 14. “We did not qualify where we should have,” Smith recalled. “I think that I over drove it just a bit.”
In three laps, the No. 16 Hasa Toyota was in the top-twenty. During the second caution, he radioed in to his crew chief, Mario Isola that he really liked the high line better and that he wanted some adjustments because his car was tight getting into the corners. During the third of eleven caution periods, Smith came in for fuel. He restarted in 34th. The field began shuffling in under the next caution and Smith moved into third. By lap 50, he was now in 8th. Smith dropped to 22nd before returning to pit road at lap 65 at which time the team made several chassis adjustments. After a restart at lap 76, Smith began to surge forward and was in 15th at lap 80. Isola radioed to him coaching him to ‘keep digging’. He would get into the top ten at lap 112 and remain there until lap 121. He took the checkered flag to finish the race in 11th.
“I knew what was on the line in this race, but you have to run each race individually and not let that pressure build inside you.” Moses explained in the pits after the race. “There was a lot of crashes and stuff going on all around me, but I didn’t let that distract me from my purpose.”
Over 250 Hasa customers and fans of the two-time series Most Popular Driver came out to watch the race. Smith and the No. 16 Hasa Toyota team would like to thank them for their continued support throughout the race season.
Local NBC Channel 12 anchor Scott Light, spent a morning with Moses Smith at the Ben Avery Clay Target Center prior to the race, shooting White Flyer Targets. Thanks to the local news channel, Moses was able to show his fans what he likes to do when he is not racing. Thanks to one of his sponsors, White Flyer, Moses’ has become very fond of knocking those clay targets out of the sky.
The 3 Amigos Tequila “125” can be seen on SPEED Channel on November 18th at 3 pm pacific from Phoenix International Raceway.
