PROAUTOSPORTS - ASA OFF TO AN EXCITING START FOR 2011

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — The word "variety" can best describe the American Speed Association's sanctioned road course series. ProAutoSports - ASA has already kicked off their 2011 season, and they appear to have an exciting season planned.

"We had a great start to our 2011 season. We had a lot of our 2010 racers show up with a good amount of new drivers," Hurley Hatch, ASA ProAutoSports President said. "Some of our new classes are gaining momentum, and some of our older classes have a resurgence."

When Hatch says some, he means a lot! At their opening even back in January, 13 different divisions competed on the Firebird International Raceway's West Track in Chandler, AZ. Those 13 divisions include open wheel and closed wheel cars. That is not all, as they will even have go-karts competing with them.

While the variety of cars is unique, so are the drivers that compete during a weekend event. "We have had many of our drivers move on to pro series and some come back and run when they can. A road race background is crucial in today's pro racing series," Hatch explained. "Keep your eye out for William Tait, who had a strong showing in EFF at our first event and Jeff Sachs, who has picked up the pace in PS4 this year."

ProAutoSports - ASA was created in 1992 and has provided car enthusiasts of all levels a chance to improve their driving skills and participate in a competitive racing program. With over 1,600 members, they pride themselves with having a fun, family friendly atmosphere that brings along the thrill of competition. Each of their events has something for drivers at all levels including New Member Orientation Class, Performance and Defensive Driving Program and their full racing program.

They also have educational programs, street car programs, time trial programs, club racing programs, kart racing programs and professional racing programs. There is something for all ages.

Being sanctioned with the American Speed Association has helped ProAutoSports - ASA. "ASA Racing has been instrumental and helping us grow and giving our drivers the national attention they deserve," Hatch said. "They also help us with a great insurance plan as well."

If a race fan is not interested in getting behind the wheel, but want to be a fan to watch? No worries as Hatch explains, "You are going to see some great racing with a bunch of different road racing cars and karts competing. There is no fee to watch."

"Hurley, along his group of competitors and officials, provide a very unique product to the ASA family," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "ProAutoSports - ASA has a great variety of divisions for anyone interested to be involved in a road racing series. We are excited to have them competing under the ASA banner."
