DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — The American Speed Association announces that National Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, CA will continue as an ASA Member Track for the 2011 season with their new partnership group. ASA and the new group, California Event Management LLC (CEM), recently signed the new agreement.
The CEM group includes Mark Brinksma Racing, Fred Zermeno of the People’s Concert, and Rafael Salazar of Conciertos America.
“It’s a great opportunity to go into a venue that has had great success in the past with races and events. What we want to do is tandem the races with concerts to follow after each race,” Zermeno said. “We want to cut back on the back to back race weekends and bring in more activities during the races for the entire family.”
“We are incredibly excited to continue our relationship with National Orange Show Speedway in our ASA Member Track program,” Dennis Huth, ASA President said. “CEM will bring some new energy and ideas to the weekly racing program which should generate a lot of fan interest. They are building off of the great foundation that Rick McCray and his group started there. We look forward to working with Mark Brinksma, Fred Zermeno, and Rafael Salazar this season.”
Along with running the racetrack operations at the National Orange Show, CEM will also bring in some national acts from rock, country, pop, and regional Mexican music as part of a summer concert series and weekly racing events.
With the concerts, they are also planning some new activities which include: photo opportunities, new food areas, a beer garden, a television lounge, arcades and jumpers for the kids, face painters, and a music garden that will include a karaoke area.
“We’re excited to partner with National Orange Show Speedway, and they are excited that we are bringing a family event to the grounds,” Salazar said. “Besides all the fun racing and all star drivers, we will create other activities throughout the day for the kids.”
CEM has signed Quiet Riot for the opening night on April 9, as tickets just went on sale with Ticket Master and Ticketweb.com. The events will be affordable at $15.00 per event, which includes the race and the concert. Other shows include: Molly Hatchet, Dokken, WMD, Shenkar, UFO, Great White, Stephen Pearcy the Voice of Ratt, and Ledzepagain.
“We hope to increase the enthusiasm at the racetrack,” Brinksma said. “This is going to be a great season of racing and music for the entire city of San Bernardino and its surrounding communities, we’ll have a little bit of fun for everyone.”
CEM has scheduled a press conference on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 10:00 am at the National Orange Show Speedway Facility.
