BAKERSFIELD, California — After having a heim joint break while he was leading the season opener last week at Bakersfield Speedway, Brad Pounds came back strong to win the second race of the season at The Speedway. Pounds started 5th on the grid and worked his way up to
second place in 3 Laps. Pounds then dueled Joey Yantis door to door for the lead and took the lead on lap 10. Yantis made a run at Pounds with 3 laps to go and Pounds pulled away to win the race. When asked about what he was thinking about during the race Pounds said,” I just kept telling myself to hit my marks, don’t mess up.”
2010 Bakersfield Speedway Track Champion Brad Pounds started the year off with a bang. On February 12th he won 2 IMCA Races at 2 different tracks. First he went to Victorville Auto Raceway and won the day race there and drove to Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway and won the night race there. His crew changed the gear in the hauler while they were driving to Hanford. Then on Sunday the 13th he went back to Victorville Auto Raceway and won the IMCA Main Event there. That made 3 main event wins in one weekend. That makes 134 career wins for Pounds.
Brad Pounds builds and drives ONIT CHASSIS. Pounds has been racing since he was 14. He has driven Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks, IMCA’s, and Super Late Models on the dirt. His father is Scott Pounds the 1994 IMCA National Champion and his crew Chief. Scott Pounds was the first driver to win The IMCA National Championship from the IMCA Western Region.
