The Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, will officially kick off their 2011 season this Saturday night, March 26th, with the first of two scheduled visits to the Havasu 95 Speedway located in Lake Havasu City-Arizona. The Rockstar Energy Drink 75 promises to be 75 green flag racing laps filled with bumper to bumper, wheel to wheel, modified action on the Havasu 95 Speedway's always challenging one quarter mile paved oval.

This Saturday night will officially kick off the sixth season of this very popular series. Their 2011 schedule features ten races that will take the participating teams to five different speedways located in three different states. Saturday night will also be the official start of the series' championships points season, heavily supported by Hoosier Tire West and Lucas Oil, which pays $2,500 in cash and $1,000 in Lucas Oil products to the driver with the most points when the championship run concludes in October.

The Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, is extremely appealing to modified racing teams because the series is so lucrative. The winner of the 75 lap A main feature receives $1,000. Each driver is guaranteed at least $250 for just starting the main. There are also special bonuses for the drivers that includes $200 to the winner of the Dart Machinery trophy dash as well as $100 bonuses for the E3 Spark Plugs hard charger award, the Budweiser fast time award, a $100 bonus for the Magnaflow Exhaust Products clean pass award and $100 to winner of the GEICO Powersports B main winner. New for the 2011 season is the series' winner's circle program which provides a $200 bonus to any driver who maintains a top ten position in the points standings.

Series Promoter Greg Scheidecker recently stated that he was very excited about next Saturday's opening night and was confident that the series would once again have a full field of cars for each of the races this year. Series Race Director Bill Rozhon, who also happens to be the Promoter of the Havasu 95 Speedway, said he was thrilled to be hosting the series' season opener and added "our fans here in Lake Havasu City loves these guys because of the level of intense competition they present during their races. I'm really looking forward to having them here on March 26th"

The series traditionally starts 22 cars on quarter mile ovals such as the Havasu 95 Speedway. Qualifying, held on Saturday afternoon, will set the first 16 starters for the 22 car field. The next four starting berths will be based on the results of the B main with the final two spots being determined by provisionals. The Rockstar Energy Drink 75 will live up to its name meaning the race will be 75 full green flag laps. This series does not count yellow caution flags.

The Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, will once again feature its unique blend of open wheel racing veterans combined with energetic youngsters who are looking to launch their racing careers to the next level.

The series veterans includes Jim Mardis from Moreno Valley-California. Mardis collected two feature wins, along with seven top five finishes, and that consistency led him to the 2010 series champion. He has already served notice to the competition that he wants a second championship title. Also looking for a points title will be Burbank-California's Tim Morse who scored his first ever, and very popular, series win last year enroute to finishing second in the points.

Then there's the fan favorite Gerchman racing family from Lake Havasu City led by family patriarch Larry Gerchman who is no stranger to feature wins and track championships. His son, Chris Gerchman, was a six time series winner last year. Chris Gerchman has expanded his racing resume to include NASCAR sanctioned Super Late Model racing at the Irwindale Speedway, among other tracks, but does plan to visit the modified series on an occasional basis.

On the subject of the Gerchmans, series officials want to remind the teams and their fans to continue sending good thoughts and prayers to David Gerchman Sr who has been undergoing extensive medical treatments for a major illness that has now been released as being leukemia.

The series' line up of veterans will also be featuring the Las Vegas contingent including drivers Doug Hamm and Scott Osbourne along with Dennis and Tom Lovelady. Also in this group are drivers Dave Arce, Doug Carpenter and Roger Brown whose 2010 efforts showed a lot of improvement.

The series' young lions is expected to again be led by Austin Barnes. The teen driver, from Escondido-California, scored four top five finishes last year and finished fourth in the final points standings. Barnes is also rock solid during qualifying and set the Budweiser fast time during two of the events last year. Many series observers are already saying that this is going to be the season when this talented young driver scores his first feature win.

The same sentiment also applies to teen driver Dylan Kwasnieski whose five top five finishes in 2010 led him to seventh in the point standings during his rookie year. The only reason this Las Vegas native finished seventh was due to schedule conflicts. Kwasnieski had a very busy 2010 season also carving out success by driving in the ASA Speed Truck Series and some late model events. This very talented young man will be another driver to keep an eye on this year.

When you put the total package together including the driving talent, lucrative race purses and bonuses, championship prizes and the high level of competition that makes the fans jump right out of their seats you've got the makings of another outstanding season for the Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink.
