LUCAS OIL I 10 SPEEDWAY TO HIGHLIGHT COLORADO RIVER FAIR ENTERTAINMENT SATURDAY

The Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway will again play a prominent role in the entertainment line up, Saturday night, for the annual Colorado River Fair, set for March 31st through April 3d, at the fairgrounds in Blythe-California.

The theme for this year's fair is "Magic In The Air". Race fans can bet that the local speedway will be working their own form of magic when they present action from their street stock, factory stock and bandolero divisions. The special evening is being presented by the Larry Green Auto Group and the River Run Sports Bar.

The youngsters in their small, but very swift, bandolero cars will have a dual mission Saturday night. First there's the matter of who's going to win the 2010-2011 Winter Blast Racing Series track championship at the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway. Secondly, their feature event is also a qualifier for those valuable INEX national points.

Regarding the track points Jeremy Orozco sits on top of the standings with 198 points. But the young driver will have to check his rear view mirror for the presence of Blake Rodgers who is only six markers away. Any form of good of bad racing luck could completely alter the run for the track title by the end of Saturday night. While the track championship is pretty much between these two drivers, there is a strong possibility that drivers Matthew Davey, Blaine Perkins, Ricky Schlick and Michelle Brachowski will be looking for a feature win especially with national points available.

By the way, as a special bonus, all bandolero drivers will be receiving free ride tickets so they can enjoy the Colorado River Fair.

Also set for action Saturday night will be the speedway's street stock division. With only two races remaining on the current Winter Blast Racing Series schedule, division points have become a crucial commodity for local drivers Danny Dill, the 2007 track champion, and his season rival D J Lonie. These two have been running neck and neck all through the racing season. Another division driver to keep an eye on is Chris Vindhurst who could play the role of spoiler. Making the championship scenario even more interesting is the fact that the street stock drivers will be running twin features, 25 laps each, Saturday night.

Also presenting a tight points battle, with only two races left in the season, will be the fan favorite, racing is rubbing, factory stock drivers. The points race for this division championship appears to be a real barn burner between local drivers Tom Nordell, a two time feature winner, and Michael White, a three time winner this season. Going into Saturday night there are only two points separating them in a racing environment where literally anything can happen within the blink of an eye. Just like their contemporaries in the street stocks, the factory stock teams will also be treating the fans to twin 25 lap features and that element is bound to add some drama to the championship picture.

The Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway weekend actually begins on Friday night with a test and tune session for all divisions. The practice session will be held from 6 to 9 pm and is free to spectators. On Larry Green Auto Group/River Run Sports Bar race day Saturday the action begins at 7 pm.

General admission tickets are $10. Tickets for seniors, age 55 plus, the military and the handicapped are value priced at $8. Teen tickets, ages 13 to 17 are $5. Palo Verde High School students can receive a one dollar discount off of their tickets by presenting their ASB cards at the ticket gate. Kids tickets, ages six to 12 are $3 while kids five and under will be admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult. The speedway also offers a value priced family package which admits two adults and two two kids, 17 and under, for $20.

For nearly a decade Lucas Oil has been the proprietor of the local quarter mile, paved, oval. They have been proud to participate in community events and be good neighbors. With that thought in mind, speedway promoter Greg Scheidecker wanted to invite all local residents, as well as community visitors, to take some time to attend and enjoy the Colorado River Fair then afterwards make the very short walk to his race track for a full evening of high energy stock car racing.
