
UKIAH, California — In anticipaton of the season opener this Saturday, April
9, the Ukiah Speedway held a Car Show at the Yokayo Bowl Center that
concluded with the annual Playday practice session at the race track.
Cars from all classes, including the Modifieds, Bombers, Legends Cars,
Late Models, Bandoleros, Pro-4 Modifieds and 4-Banger displayed their
stuff at the car show. The event was well-received with many local
residents stopping to inquire about the upcoming races.
The bomber class was the best represented with 10 cars, four that will
be piloted this season by rookie drivers . The Legends Cars class was
made up of cars from both veteran drivers such as 2010 track champion
Bill Kistenmacher, and several Bandolero and Kart graduates like Hunter
LaRue and Kevin Coburn . All had a good time before driving their cars
up the street to the race track for a fun afternoon of practice.
Drivers will have one more attempt to shake down their cars at the 4:00
pm Test & Tune session on Friday afternoon before the opener on
Saturday. Scheduled to compete on Saturday are the Airport Auto Brokers
Late Models and Legends Cars, the Bud Bombers, Modifieds and Bandoleros.
Gates open at 5:00 pm with racing at 7:00 pm. A Best Appearing Car
Contest, which will be judged by the race fans, will be held prior to
racing at 6:30 pm.
