UKIAH, California — This Saturday night Ukiah Speedway hosts the inaugural race in the all new Modified Tri Track Challenge Series, a series that feature races at Ukiah Speedway, Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, and Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka.
The series is open to all IMCA/GA-type Modifieds and will run on the Goodyear tires. The series will utilize the successful Northern California Open Show Rules. Each 50-lap main event purse will be $750 to win and a $3,700 payout for a 20 car-field.
Saturday night will also be the debut of the Ukiah Speedway 4-Bangers.
This newest addition to the weekly racing program will be composed of four-cylinder, front-wheel-drive race cars that are designed for beginner drivers as well as veterans who are looking for a fun time. The 4-Bangers are sub compact sedans or hatch-back cars that must remain stock. Passengers are optional in this entry-level class.
The 4-Bangers will be competing on a chicane-type course at the beginning of the season, graduating to a full-course figure-8 track following the Redwood Empire Fair Spring Carnival in June.
Prior to the racing activities all the Bomber drivers will be giving rides in their race cars to all the kids in the grandstands. Parents are asked to have their children at the speedway by 6:30 to assure they get a ride.
