IRWINDALE, California — It’s not just for the boys anymore.
" Teenager will be lone female in Justice Brothers Mini Stocks Race Saturday night at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale"
Quick Pick Motor Sports, the leader in mini-track racing, is pleased to unveil the professional racing debut of 16-year-old Aubree Porter Saturday night. Porter, a sophomore at Bonita High in La Verne, Calif., will be racing in her green Pinto – the number 43 – in the Justice Brothers Mini Stocks Race.
Porter said she has been waiting for this night to come for some time.
“I’ve wanted to do this for a couple of years,” said Porter, who comes from a racing family. “I wanted to do this because it looked fun.”
And what about the X chromosome factor? “I like being the only girl in the race,” she said.
Porter added while she is fairly new to her car, she doesn’t think that will be a problem.
“My dad used to race it, so it’s good luck,” she said. “I feel really comfortable with it. It suits me. It brings out my wild side.”
As Porter said she would like a career in racing, hopefully Saturday night will be the beginning of many great things to come.
Based in Oak Hills, Calif., Quick Pick Motor Sports consists of three “number 43s”: veteran truck racer Kenny Smith and teenage siblings Andrew and Aubree Porter. All three will be racing exclusively this summer here at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.
