Sonoma, Calif. June 21. Under the hot afternoon sun in the wine country of Northern California, the competitors of the Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring division took to the newly reconfigured 2.0 mile road course. Fifty-one teams signed in to do battle in the SNAP-ON TOOLS "200" on Saturday, June 23. The race will commence at 12 noon PST and will be shown on a tape delayed basis on FOX Sports Net Saturday, June 30, 2001. A time for the airing has yet to be determined. Eric Homes of Escalon, Calif. set the pace in practice with a time of 77.299/93.145mph. Last year's winner, Jim Inglebright of Fairfield, Calif. was eleventh quick in practice with a time of 79.101/91.023mph. Qualifying for the SNAP-ON TOOLS "200" will take place this afternoon at 3:00pm. All 51 competitors will take part in one of five 15 minute European style qualifying session . The top 30 times will automatically make the field, with four provisional starting positions available for the top two non-qualifying drivers, and top two non-qualifying car owners not already qualified.
