LAKEVILLE, Connecticut — Last month, the 14th season of the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National presented by Mazda kicked off at the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring in March with a new generation of young racers. Following the racing line of drivers like Ryan Hunter-Reay, A.J. Allmendiner, Scott Speed and Raphael Matos, the twelve young Skip Barber National competitors raced hard and clean throughout the double-header weekend. Nineteen year old Thomas McGregor and eighteen year old Brandon Newey were the winners of the weekend, with Newey currently leading the championship by two points.

Now the series heads to Virginia International Raceway for Rounds 3 and 4. Also racing this weekend at VIR will be the Skip Barber Formula Summer Series and Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Challenge. Session times will not be time certain, so keep up with all the action on twitter.com/skipbarbernatl. The first lapping session will take place Thursday, April 28th, and the first official practice session will be Friday, April 29th.

About the Skip Barber National Series

Dedicated to the development of aspiring race car drivers, the Skip Barber National is an open wheel, entry-level, equal car championship that provides the athletes with media exposure, expert coaching, on-track experience, financial awards and motorsport scholarships. The Skip Barber National is the series that launched the auto racing careers of Ryan Hunter-Reay, Marco Andretti, Scott Speed, A.J. Allmendinger, Raphael Matos and many more.
