MARYSVILLE, Washington — “We learned a lot Saturday night,” said Travis Jacobson after the Shaylen Rae Motorsports team raced both the 410 and 360 Sprint divisions on opening night at Skagit Speedway.
Racing two divisions in two separate Brady Dart prepared race cars Jacobson set fast time in the 360 division with a 12.023 lap and was second fast in the 410’s at 11.732 seconds. Travis took 3rd in both heats on a well hooked up race track. An early incident in the 360 main had Travis fighting his way back through the field for a 5th place finish. Post race inspection found the chassis bent which most certainly affected handling. The 410 finale was a donnybrook with the #18 closing to within a nerf bar of the second place car and another car length behind eventual race winner Josh DeWitt to wind up third.
“We tried a completely different setup with the brakes on the 360 car and I am quite pleased with the results as evidenced by the speed we showed in qualifying,” said Travis. “Doing double duty leading up to Dirt Cup, 360 Nationals and the World of Outlaws in these cars is really going to have us in contention for the big Open Comp shows. I can’t thank Mike Anderson enough for having faith in me to drive his cars and the crew he has put together gives me great race cars every time I put a wheel on the track.”
This Saturday night April 30th the Shaylen Rae Motorsports team will once again tackle the high-banked 3/10th clay oval at Skagit Speedway.
