This Saturday’s SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series “StreamPayPerView.TV - Blackjack 121” is part of the annual ‘Spring Speedfest’ at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Saturday’s event is the third race of the 2011 SRL season, and the second of three SRL events that will be hosted by The Bullring in 2011, including the SRL Championship Finale “Sigma Engineering 154” on October 29th.
This weekend’s ‘Spring Speedfest’ at The Bullring will also feature the Lucas Oil Modified Series, NASCAR Super Late Models, Legend Cars, Bandoleros, Roadsters and USAC Quarter Midgets on the Mini-Bullring oval.
SRL NOTES OF INTEREST:
• After two events, Lakeport, California’s Derek Thorn is the championship point leader after finishing third at the Bullring on April 2nd, and winning at All-American Speedway on April 16th. Thorn was third in the final 2010 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship standings.
• Four former SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Champions have submitted entries for Saturday’s event: Eric Schmidt – 2006, Dave Byrd – 2007, Jim Pettit II – 2008, and M.K. Kanke – 2009.
• PAST SRL ‘BULLRING’ WINNERS – Bear Rzesnowiecky (Nov. 2008), M.K. Kanke (May 2009 and April 2011), Josh Combs (Oct. 2009), Derek Thorn (May 2010), and Jim Pettit (Oct. 2010).
• Henderson, Nevada’s Joe Farré will make his 2011 SRL debut after missing the first two events due to being in Christchurch, New Zealand assisting with earthquake recovery efforts with the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
• Manteca, California’s Ross Strmiska has been fast qualifier at the previous two SRL events at The Bullring. Strmiska is the current SRL track record holder at the Bullring at 14.363 seconds (93.992 mph avg.)
• With his win on April 2nd, M.K. Kanke became the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series only two-time winner at The Bullring.
• Winner’s share of the prize money will be $4,000, which includes the Superior Crankshaft Winner’s Bonus.
• Due to excessive travel and time commitments from a new business venture in Montana and North Dakota, defending SRL Champion, Jonathon Gomez will no longer be able to continue to compete in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series this season.
• Twenty-seven drivers representing five states have entered Saturday’s “StreamPayPerView.TV - Blackjack 121”.
