JACK MADRID AT HOME RESTING AFTER HORRIFIC CRASH

Jack Madrid, 16, is home resting after surviving a horrific crash at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale Saturday night May 7. Racing in the Lucas Oil Slick mist Super Late Division, Jack crashed hitting flush on the driver’s side near the track entrance’s wall at top speed. His car came to rest with frightening silence on the radio. “Sparky” Riddering , Jacks spotter, tried to get Jack to respond but to no avail. The Track Safety crew attended to Jack as he was unconscious and did a great job of extracting Jack from the car and prepping him for transport to LAC-USC Trauma Center. Jacks crew of Linny White, Sparky, Jeff S, James S and all their families waited in the Hospital’s trauma waiting room until 3 am when everyone was sure that Jack was ok. He suffered a severe concussion, Bruised Lungs and a partially collapsed lung, and contusions to his elbow and knees. Today he is at home feeling the effects of the impact throughout his body. He is expected to be 100% recovered in a few weeks.

Jacks family would like to thank everyone’s well wishes and the safety crew at the Speedway. Most importantly, they would like to thank the crew and Linny for providing a car that withstood that impact and reminded all involved of the dangers in racing and the need to keep everyone as safe as possible. Jack drives the Chevy Impala sponsored by So Cal Industries, and Davis Blue Print.

Well wishers can contact Jack at www.jackmadrid.com and at his Facebook page.
