THE CHASE IS UNDERWAY FOR THE 2011 JOE GIBBS DRIVEN RACING OIL ASA MEMBER TRACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

DAYTONA BEACH, Fl — Thursday, May 19, 2011) - The anticipation is building as many ASA Member Tracks have started their 2011 seasons with a few more starting up this month. With the ASA Member Tracks getting underway, the next thing to start is the chase for the 2011 Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship.

"We also look forward to meeting 2011 champion and providing an opportunity to test with Joe Gibbs Racing."JD Gibbs

ASA Member Tracks across the United States are already submitting their results to ASA for their premiere divisions that are participating in the National Championship. ASA will soon post the first standings of the season and will update on a weekly basis until the end of September when the 2011 Champion will be determined.

"This will be an exciting year for the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship as we will have some new tracks participating for the first time," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "Along with our ASA Member Tracks returning from last year, many have set their season schedule to make sure their premiere division drivers get every opportunity possible to win a tryout with Joe Gibbs Racing."

Many factors will go into create the unique points average used to determine the National Champion. A proprietary formula, created by ASA and SpeedNetDirect.com, will create the average. Some of the factors that could play a role in the average are winning feature events, finishes, number of cars passed, cars competing in the feature event, and number of events. The importance of each is a secret when it comes to how they are placed in the proprietary formula.

The key thing is the weekly on-track performance at the competitor's ASA Member Track. The first priority for the competitor is to win the 2011 track championship. After they win the track championship, their average will go up against the other 2011 ASA Member Track champions and the highest average will win the National Championship.

Last year, Bryan Wordelman who competes at Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley City, UT, won the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship by a margin of 0.0028 over Dustin Rumley of Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, NC.

As the 2010 Champion, Wordelman enjoyed a three-day visit to the Charlotte, NC area that included a full day of testing with one of Joe Gibbs Racing teams; a meeting with JD Gibbs, President of Joe Gibbs Racing; and an up-close tour of Joe Gibbs Racing operations.

"I am looking forward to the weekly updates for the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship," JD Gibbs, President of Joe Gibbs Racing said. "It is exciting to follow the progression of the championship throughout the year. We also look forward to meeting 2011 champion and providing an opportunity to test with Joe Gibbs Racing."

The points will be tabulated and posted through SpeedNetDirect.com.

The participating ASA Member Tracks will be divided into the East and West regions. The driver who finishes the highest in the division that the National Champion is not from, will receive a one of a kind Regional Champion jacket from SpeedNetDirect.com.

"We wish all the competitors the best of luck this season and thank our ASA Member Tracks for their participation in the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship," Huth said. "I will be watching the weekly results like everyone else and look forward to announcing our 2011 National Champion later this year."

The National Championship will be available to drivers who participate in the premier division at ASA Member Tracks across the United States. They must be an ASA Member in good standing.

Past National Champions are Cary Stapp, Thunderhill Raceway (2008), Tommy Cloce, Adirondack Speedway (2009), and Bryan Wordelman, Rocky Mountain Raceways (2010).
