HILEX POLY COMPANY PRESENTS ARMED FORCES NIGHT AT MVS

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — The front stretch was filled with former, present and future Armed Forces people for the opening ceremonies at Magic Valley Speedway (MVS) Saturday night. The crowd gave several warm, appreciative rounds of applause and cheers for them. Asked to come to the start/finish line from the grandstands, pits and from the speedway staff, these Armed Forces veterans stood tall shoulder to shoulder.

After a pair of exciting heat races the Mr. Gas Late Models continued their exciting ways in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series feature main event. Early trouble between Kris McKean and Jeff Wade left “Mr. Excitement” Jeff Pohlman and “The Bullet” Bobby Latham dueling for the lead halfway through the main. A few cautions kept the field bunched and after double file restarts Pohlman showed the way to the checkered flag with Latham trailing and TJ Woodall third.

The Budweiser Super Stocks featured a runaway win by Kristopher McKean although the late closing Allen Williams made it interesting at the finish. “The Legend” Casey Pehrson rounded out the top three. Daniel Shirley dug hard after early trouble to finish fourth.

The Project Filter Street Stocks ran double mains with Paul Browne pushing his way out of turn four with a win over hard charging Kendall Woll. Defending Champion John Newell ran third. In the second main Newell was able to take the lead then hold off Kendall Woll who had to come from the back after a tangle with Craig Nuthak to finish for the second time! Paul Browne was third.

The Quale Electronics Hornets tackled the new ¼ mile “teardrop” track and “The Tank” Doug Brownfield showed the crowd and the competition just how to tackle the track driving to victory. Chad Everett chased him with Robbie Hyde third.

The Junior Stingers once again pleased the crowd with their driving skills. Ranging in ages 10-15 these hornet car drivers compete on the small tri-oval. Almost half girls and boys they always bring the unexpected to the race for the crowd. Last week’s main event winner Jay McDonald couldn’t quite reel in “Grasshopper” Jason Quale as Quale ran through the field for the win. Holden Maughan managed a terrific third place run with “The Young Gun” Russel Dalton fighting his way to fourth.

Next up at MVS; Outback Steakhouse presents the Mr. Gas Late Models in a double feature night along with the TVGoldandSilver.com Thunder Dogs, Brennans Carpet Pony Stocks run and also running double features are the Quales Electronics Hornets and junior Stingers. There will be Spectator Drags always a popular crowd pleaser.
