LOCALS AND INSSA THRILL FANS AT STATELINE

Mother Nature once again threatened the evening of racing all around the facility for the 2011 debut for the INSSA Super Stocks in Post Falls, Idaho. Severe thunder storms brewing all around the track made for some scheduled changes of events for the night. Following opening ceremonies and trophy dashes race fans had the opportunity to see the Competitive Edge Racing Series 25 lap heat race of limited late model racing. Kahlen Koch driver of the #26 pulled of a new track record for the school and finish with a first place win in the heat race. Series drivers will resume competition Sunday May 22, 2011 at Stateline Speedway for their main events.

As the evening progressed and the threat of rain track officials decided that heats for the super stocks would be cancelled and move straight to their 100 lap main event. With 15 cars on the starting grid for the main event, pole sitter Todd Havens wasted no time jumping out in front of the pack early while things heated up behind the #20. Lap 15 the first of 3 cautions on the night brought the field once again together. On the restart Havens #20 had plenty of pressure from Andy Brown #41 who started a t the rear of the field. Brown took over as the leader on lap 16 and opened a very impressive lead till lap 22 the second caution flew for Havens #20 who spun in turn two. With the cone on the track for the line up Brown took to the outside of row one and David Garber #93 moving down into the pole position. On the green flag restart Brown #41 showed that his cars setup was just right for the second grove and pulled out in front of Garber #93, the next 25 laps fans watched as Brown #41 and Garber#93 side by side switched leads by a bumper length each lap. Following behind the leaders Blake Williams #16 and Kameron McKeehan #72 series defending champion watched as Garber #93 and Brown #41 raced and hoped that the two drivers used all their tires up racing up in front of the pack. With Williams #16 running in fourth McKeehan #72 running third, on lap 75 McKeehan had the misfortune of making contact with lap traffic and lost position to Williams #16. On the final restart of the main event Brown #41 took to the outside one more time, and Garber #93 on the pole and Williams #16 on Garber’s tail in third. What fans watched all night with Garber and Brown side by side once again and swapping lead changes on the back stretch Brown on the outside got trapped by slower traffic and lost the outside position and fell back two car lengths to Garber #93. David Garber #93 picks up the first main event of the season.

Hobby Stocks watched as the driver of the #47 Gerald Nash broke a track record during qualifying. Once again the heated battle for points in the Hobby division is on its way with Billy Swift #04 and John Vallone #77 for an exciting championship battle in 2011. On the green flag start of the 25 lap main event Swift #04 and Vallone #77 started dead last. Brandon Tarr #21 took the early lead and held on for six laps, Gerald Nash #47 new track record holder passed Tarr #21 on the outside of turn two and took off from the field. Lap 20 Dave Harrison finally closed the gap and threatened to take the lead twice before falling short to Nash #47 for the Hobby Stock main event win. The NW Early Stocks returned with some great racing action. Larry Todd #53 and Gill Rapp Jr rubbed back and forth for most of the 25 lap main event. Todd #53 finised once again up front of the field for the main event win.
