DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — Memorial Day Weekend is traditionally known for big racing events. Many ASA Member Tracks and Sanctioned Series will also be hosting some great affordable family action this weekend.
Here is a look at what is happening this weekend.
ASA IRA OUTLAW SPRINT CAR SERIES
Wilmot Raceway (Wilmot, WI)
141 Speedway (Francis Creek, WI)
The ASA Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series certainly looks forward to getting some races in as Mother Nature has not been very cooperative to date as the series has lost 4 of its' first 6 events. However we're gonna give it a try this Memorial weekend May 28-29 as a pair of shows are scheduled. Saturday it's the annual Daun/Winker Memorial at Wilmot Raceway, and Sunday the series travels two hours north up the Lake Michigan coast to the 141 Speedway. ASA TRUCK SERIES
Toyota Speedway at Irwindale Speedway (Irwindale, CA)
After a one month break, the stars of the ASA Truck Series will be back in action this Saturday night at the famous speedway located in Irwindale, CA. Taylor Miinch will be looking for his third win in a row.
Inde Motorsports Ranch (Wilcox, AZ)
The monthly gathering of sports car enthusiasts will take place this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the ASA Sanctioned Inde Motorsports Ranch in Wilcox, AZ. The scenic road course will welcome close to 250 competitors this weekend.
ASA MIDWEST SPORTSMAN TOUR
(Raceway Park, Shakopee, MN)
Chris Marek will be looking for three wins in a row as the popular Sportsman Tour makes its first trip to Minnesota this Sunday night. The semi-banked quarter-mile oval will provide some great short track action.
ASA MEMBER TRACKS
ACE SPEEDWAY (Altamahaw, NC)
Join us this Friday, May 27th for our Memorial Day Celebration at Ace Speedway. In action this week will be the Dick Shirley Chevrolet Late Models, Strutmasters Limited-Late Models, AceSpeedway Modifieds, King's Auto Salvage Extremes, and the Cars & Truck Wear Mini-Trucks. Pit gates open at 4:30pm and the grandstands open at 5:30. Racing at 8:00pm. Admission this week will be $12 for adults, $8 for students & seniors with ID and free for kids 12 and under.
CORPUS CHRISTI SPEEDWAY (Corpus Christi, TX)
Join us at Corpus Christi Speedway for some exciting racing action this Saturday night. The Texas Pro Sedans, Front Runners, Bombers, Super Streets, and Sport Mods will be in action. Gates open at 6:00pm with racing at 8:00pm.
DESOTO SUPER SPEEDWAY (Bradenton, FL)
Memorial Day action will include the Pure Stocks, Open Wheel Modifieds, Bombers, Trophy Dash Cars, DAARA, Flyin 4's, and Magic 4's. Racing gets underway at 7:00pm SHARP!
DILLON MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Dillon, SC)
Honda of South Carolina Night "Memorial Day Fireworks Show" this Saturday night. Come on out to watch the Street Stock, 4 Cylinder, Mini Cup Stock, Chargers and Late Models along with the Golden Knights and a Fireworks Show. Green flag falls at 730pm, see you all there.
EAST BAY RACEWAY PARK (Tampa, FL)
ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, May 28, 2011. The program will include the East Bay Sprints, Q Auto & Injury Attorney Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, Old Time Modifieds, motorstats 4 Cylinder Bombers and Dirt Daubers. Gates open at 5:00pm with racing at 6:30pm on Saturday.
GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY (Elma, WA)
There will be great nights of action this weekend at Grays Harbor Raceway with the ASCS Northwest Sprints and Midgets will be competing on both nights.
HARTFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Hartford, MI)
It will be Topless Night and Bike Night this Friday night. Fans will see Topless UMP Late Models, Topless UMP Modifieds, Stock Cars and Pure Stocks in action. Main gates open at 6:00pm with Racing at 8:00pm.
I-25 SPEEDWAY (Pueblo, CO)
"X" will mark the spot at I-25 Speedway this Saturday night. The Figure 8's, Charger Figure 8's, Grand American Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Mini Stocks will be in action. Racing gets underway at 6:00pm.
ILLIANA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Schererville, IN)
Start the Memorial Day holiday off with some High-Speed racing action and the Fifth Annual Nathan C. Splant Foundations "Racing for Babies fundraiser this Sat. nite May 28. The nite will be full a great fun for the whole family with many games and prizes and giveaways. The fundraiser is intended to help premature children and their families. INDE MOTORSPORTS RANCH (Wilcox, AZ)
Inde will welcome ASA ProAutoSports this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
LEBANON I-44 SPEEDWAY (Lebanon, MO)
A patriotic salute to the Military, and free admission for all active duty and retired military personnel with government ID, will highlight the ASA-sanctioned stock car racing show this Saturday night, May 28, at Lebanon I-44 Speedway. Spectator gates are will open at 5:00 pm, with the five-division stock car racing program scheduled to start at 7:30 on the track's 3/8-mile high banked asphalt oval. Spectator gates open at 5:00pm with racing at 7:30pm.
LONESOME PINE RACEWAY (Coeburn, VA)
Come out and celebrate Memorial Day with us on Saturday for Woodway Convenience Center's Night at The Pine. The Chargers, Pro 4's, Mod 4's, Street Stocks, and Renegades will be in action. Qualifying at 5pm with Racing at 7pm.
MARSHFIELD MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Marshfield, WI)
The season opener has been re-scheduled, again, for this Saturday night. The Super Late Models will have a 50-lap feature event. The CWSSA Super Stocks, CWMSA 4-Cylinders, Midwest Mods and the Bandits will also be in action. Gates open at 4pm with racing at 6:30pm.
MERIDIAN SPEEDWAY (Meridian, ID)
Memorial Day weekend at Meridian Speedway, race fans will remember those drivers who have passed with two nights of action at ASA-sanctioned Meridian Speedway's historic paved quarter-mile oval, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary season. Saturday's schedule is topped by the Bob and Tom Naylor Memorial Classic XXXI featuring the Mtn. Dew Winged Sprints. Also on tap is the Sean Miller 40 for the ESI Express ASA Modifieds. Other classes Saturday include the Pepsi Sprintcars and the Edmark Mini Stocks. Spectacular Drags also will be held, allowing race fans to bring their grocery getter (a k a personal car) onto the racetrack for bracket drag racing. It's also a Racing For Smiles of the Northwest night, meaning a special honoree child will get to tour the pits, meet the drivers and present the trophies. On Monday, the 36th annual Bill Crow Memorial presented by Lowe's Home Improvement will take the spotlight for the NAPA Late Model Sportsman drivers. The College of Western Idaho Professional Truck Driving Street Stocks will run the LeeRoy Nelson 40. The Domino's Pizza Legends return after a layoff, and the Thunder Dogs will also get a shot at the Meridian pavement. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 6:30 p.m. both nights. Tickets are $12 for adult general admission, $9.50 for senior citizens and military personnel with ID, $8 for children ages 7-11 and, as always, children 6 and younger get in free. A family pass for two adults and up to four children costs $36.
NEWPORT MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Newport, TN)
Week #6 of the 2011 season falls on Memorial Day Weekend and with the holiday come a special Twin 50-lap feature for the Late Model Sportsman division. The Street Stocks, Front Wheel Drives, Legends, and Mini Cups will also be in action. Grandstands open at 2:00pm with racing at 7:30pm.
NORWAY SPEEDWAY (Norway, MI)
The 2011 season will open this Friday with a full racing program. The Late Models, Street Stocks, 4-Cylinders, Slammer and Enduro cars will be in action. Qualifying at 6:00pm with Racing at 7:00pm.
ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY (San Bernardino, CA)
Racing action returns to Orange Show Speedway on June 18th. Along with the racing action, Grammy Award winner Shenkar and rock sensation DOKKEN will also be in concert.
RED RIVER SPEEDWAY (Wichita Falls, TX)
Will be back in action on Saturday, June 11.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACEWAYS (West Valley City, UT)
ASA Weekly Racing at Rocky Mountain Raceways will continue on Monday, May 30 with the Young Chevrolet 100; featuring RMCS Late Models, USAC/SLVRA YAG Sprints, Pro Trucks, Figure-8 Cars and Western States Equipment Figure 8 Trains. Monday, May 30 will be Military Appreciation Night. With the help of ITT Corporation, Rocky Mountain Raceways will be offering free spectator admission to all active military and veterans; accompanying family members will receive half-price spectator admission. Gates open at 4:00 pm, qualifying begins at 4:45 pm and racing begins at 6:00 pm. Adult admission is $15.00 and youth admission (5-12) is $5.00.
SHANGRI-LA II MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Tioga Center, NY)
Memorial Day Madness is scheduled for this Saturday night starting at 7:00 pm. $1.00 of admission price will be donated to Traci's Hope. There will be face painting, 50/50 Raffle and bonus prizes.
SKAGIT SPEEDWAY (Burlington, WA)
Memorial Day weekend at Skagit Speedway is time for the John Carroll Classic Race presented by Industrial Resorces. Join us as we salute 'Big John' Carroll. 410 & 360 Sprints, Sportsman Sprints & Outlaw Hornets. Ticket gates open at 5:45pm, racing at 7:00pm.
SOUTHERN OREGON SPEEDWAY (Medford, OR)
The Art Pollard Memorial 50 for the Pro Stocks is this Saturday night. The Street Stocks, Super 4's, Dwarf Cars, and Mini Stocks will also be in action. Grandstands open at 4:00pm with Racing at 6:00pm.
STATE PARK SPEEDWAY (Wausau, WI)
State Park Speedway opens its gates for the 2011 season this Thursday night (May 26) with the Build from the Heart 75 presented by Newsline Nine. State Park Speedway will donate $1 of every ticket sold to the Build from the Heart project, which is an effort helping to build a handicap accessible home for a Wausau family with two special needs children. Racing will start at 7:30pm.
VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Jamaica, VA)
Armed Forces Appreciation Night is this Saturday night. All active, retired, Guard or Reserve personnel and their dependents will be admitted for $5 with proper military I.D. The Late Models, Sportsman, Modifieds, and Limited Stocks will be in action. Gates open at 5:00pm with hot laps starting at 6:30pm.
WILMOT RACEWAY (Wilmot, WI)
The Wilmot Raceway will host their first special event of the 2011 season this coming Saturday night May 28th, as the earth shaking, ground pounding, high horsepower thunder of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series roar into town. Joining IRA on this Memorial Day Weekend will be the Don's Auto Parts & Machine Modifieds, and the RA Adams Enterprises Street Stocks. Pit gates open at 3pm, Grandstand gates at 5pm. Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 5:15, with warmups set for 5:45, IRA Qualifying at 6:30, and racing at 7:15. Adult tickets are $20, Children 8-11 are just $5, and kids 7 & under are FREE.
YAKIMA SPEEDWAY (Yakima, WA)
Will be back in action at Yakima Speedway on Saturday, June 4. The Super Streets, Pure Stocks, Hornets, Youth Hornets and Bump to Pass will be in action. Time trials at 5:15pm with racing at 6:00pm.
