This Saturday, June 4th, will mark the third race for the Langer’s Juice S2 division at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. Currently, Andrew Porter and Andrew Anderson have each won and are tied for the lead in points. Porter won the first race of the year, and is hoping a recent injury no longer affects his driving ability.

Six weeks ago, Andrew broke his collar bone while mountain biking. When he arrived at the track for the next race, Porter was stuck driving with one hand and still nearly won the event. In fact, he only lost by a bumper. Coming into this weekend, Andrew is confident that he will return to victory lane. “If the car is working, I’m going to run away with it” Porter stated. When asked what it will take for him to beat Anderson, Andrew simply replied “two hands.”

The young, Quick Pick Motorsports driver already has a year under his belt in the S2 car. “It’s a great starter class for someone wanting to race the half mile” Andrew said, “I learned a lot in that first year.” He went on talking about the importance of experience in the division, and how the cars are so even that moving to the front is all about the driver. Now, Porter hopes to use that experience to not only win individual races, but clinch the 2011 S2 championship. Andrew even has a deal with his grandmother that if he wins the championship, he will get to take on the late models in 2012. With the late model in mind, Porter is also looking to get some seat time in Kenny Smith’s King Taco Super Truck.

With the often fluctuating weather in Southern California, the forecast is predicting cooler temperatures on Saturday, and Andrew is excited about it. “The cars like the cooler weather” Porter explained, “cold air makes for more horsepower.” With extra horsepower and both hands back on the steering wheel, Andrew is expecting to have a fast hot rod during race time. “I hope everyone can make it out, and that there are no deers”. For a more elaborate explanation on the deer story, be sure to keep tabs on Andrew’s future press releases.

Racing action this Saturday night at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale starts at 7pm. Anyone can come and meet Andrew during the 5:45pm autograph session. For more information on Andrew Porter and Quick Pick Motorsports, please visit www.quickpickmotorsports.com .
