KALISPELL, Montana — Officials with Montana Raceway Park have announced that the Twisted Tea “Prelude to the 200” race set for June 18 will offer a purse of over $13,000 with a $2,500 payday awaiting the winner of the final late model shootout before the 21st Annual Coors Light Montana 200 presented by Kalispell Toyota.
“We set out to offer quality late model events for our race teams, sponsors and fans and this increased payout should provide a great draw for our final tune-up before next month’s big Montana 200,” said MRP general manager Doug Pace. “Running a 100-lap sprint for the Kalispell Toyota Late Model Series will give everyone the chance to dial their cars in for those last 100 laps of the (Montana) 200.”
Bodie Morton has been the man to beat at Montana Raceway Park of late as the driver of the Carlson Law Office Chevrolet has put together two straight main event victories dating back to last season. While Morton has had the hot hand, a Canadian driver rose up to the challenge at the May 14 season-opener.
Calgary’s Brian Levant proved that he will be a threat throughout the 2011 season with a runner-up finish.
Also having good runs in the opener were 2010 Kalispell Toyota Late Model Series rookie of the year, Ryan Wells along with Cameron Hayley, Agni Howell, Brandon Sickler, Jeff Little, Wrango West, David Garber, Mark Owens and Braeden Havens.
