As the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West heads to Sonoma, CA this weekend for the Thunder Valley Casino Resort 200, Spencer Gallagher and his #23 Allegiant Chevy race team are anxious to get back to road course competition. The last time the series visited a road course was back in April at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah where Gallagher was a contender throughout much of the event. The more impressive part of his performance in Utah was the fact that it was the first time Gallagher had competed on the track.
The young and talented driver from Las Vegas, NV is still developing his skills at oval tracks and against the fierce competition in the K&N West Series. He proved to himself, his team and his competition at Utah that he will be a contender anytime the series heads to road course racing. This weekend’s race marks the second of three road course races on the K&N West Series schedule, but Infineon is one that Gallagher is very familiar with as he looks to capitalize on the opportunity.
After a strong performance at his hometown track, The Bullring at Las Vegas, ended abruptly when he was collected in an accident that was no fault of his own, Gallagher has a chance to redeem himself at another track where he has logged hundreds of laps. At the beginning of the race season, the #23 Allegiant team looked forward to the Las Vegas and Sonoma races with much anticipation. Infineon is a 1.99mile 10-turn road course in Northern California that is nestled in the middle of “wine country.” Through his development of racing in Legends and other developmental series of racing, Gallagher feels much at home when he embarks on the Infineon Raceway.
With this weekend’s racing action coinciding with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Infineon Raceway, there are several Cup Series stars competing in the K&N West Series race such as Joey Logano, David Gilliland and Boris Said to name a few. The cars hit the track at 8:30 a.m. of Friday morning for the first of two practice sessions, followed by qualifying at 1:50 p.m. The green flag for the race is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. on Saturday and will air on SPEED at 6 p.m. EST on July 7th. Fans will have a chance to meet Spencer Gallagher at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at the Ticket Pit Stop Fan Booth for autographs and Q&A.
