THREE NIGHTS OF ACTION SET FOR COTTAGE GROVE SPEEDWAY

With this upcoming Independence Day Weekend race fans will get their fill of action at the Cottage Grove Speedway. The cards of all three nights will be a great program for everyone to come out and spend an evening’s observation of some of the greatest racing one can see around. The track itself will celebrate its fifty-fifth anniversary on Monday the 4th marking another milestone in the facilities decorated legacy, to note as well Sunday July 3rd will be sponsored by Welt & Welt Inc.

The Interstate Sprint Car Series will be hosted for two consecutive nights of action on the 2nd and 3rd of July. Sunday evenings feature will be $2,500 to win which will guarantee a healthy car count and a great race as well. Roger Crockett has won all three ISCS features and will look for his fourth and fifth victories this weekend.

Also on hand for multiple days of action will be the Modifieds. They will the only class that will race all three nights. A $500 bonus will go to any driver that can win all three nights of action and on Sunday the 3rd it will be $1,000 to win. In 2011 Jesse Williamson has won two main events while also conquering the Northwest Modified Drivers Challenge visit on June 21st. Two other drivers have won once this season in the Modifieds Mark Carrell and Braedon Hand.

Saturday night will see the return of the All-American Street Stocks after a week off. The class has certainly been the busiest in the first half of the season racing seven complete nights in a matter of eight weeks (the one that was not ran being a rain out). It has been a Langan brothers affair with T.J. at four victories and Andrew at three in 2011.

Sunday night the Hornets will be back in action for their seventh race of the season. After seeing four winners in the first four races Shawn Hand has had his way with the class winning the last two for a sum total of three this season. Other drivers with victories this season are Chris Pierce, David Beals, and Monte Cox Sr.

Monday night will see the Late Models in action for $2,000 to win forty lap race (Birthday Bash 40?). This will be the third race of the season for the class and after two races there have been two different winners. Trevor Glaser and Mark Carrell have visited victory lane with big money on the line Monday except to seem some good cars come out.

Monday will also see the Limited Sprints in action for their third race of the year also. In the two races that have been ran there have been two different winners. Zack Spaulding and Heath Shelton have found victory in 2011 but there are a plenty of other drivers looking for their first win this season.

Monday night will conclude with our annual Demolition Derby with $1,000 going to the winner. The last two derbies have gone to Eric Ashley but there should be many cars making it out to make sure his reign is dethroned.

For the weekend Fireworks will be held on the 3rd and the 4th to close out the night’s festivities. Hollywood stuntman James Smith will put on a stunt exposition on Saturday the 2nd during intermission times. All children (ages 0-11) will be admitted into the races for free on Independence Day July 4th . It will truly be a busy but fun weekend with no shortage of excitement on any day.
