FIREWORKS ON THE TRACK, FIREWORKS IN THE SKY!

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Grandstands were packed once again as MVS rolled out it’s always action packed Independence Day race program. The night, as usual, was highlighted by Trailer “Races” and a fireworks finale.

Mr. Gas Late Models ran a full field of competitors with Kris McKean taking the lead from TJ Woodall early. Jeff Pohlman wrestled second from Woodall then closed in on McKean. Caution came out and after a double file restart, Pohlman and McKean began an epic battle for the lead. After a couple of tight contact laps McKean cut a tire and ended up hard in the front stretch turn one wall ending his night and sending Pohlman to the rear of the field. TJ Woodall then restarted in the lead but soon Bobby Latham made contact sending him around. After Latham “tapped” and went to the rear, Woodall held on for the win as Bruce Quale couldn’t quite make the outside move. Rick Fowble finished third.

The Brennan’s Carpet Pony’s tackled the tough 1/4mile “teardrop” track and Todd Audet won what he said was his last race. Robbie Hyde and Jerry Slocum rounded out the top three.

TVGoldandSilver.com Thunder Dogs have begun to take off as a fan favorite division. Featuring cars like “The Tank” and the “Hoffa Cadillac” racing in a no one ever loses a lap race the fans roared as a smaller 4 cylinder car somehow managed to make it to Victory Lane! Ty Garibay seemed shocked that he had won but was pleased by the great crowd cheer as he came out of his car.

Quale’s Electronic Hornets had Ben Hampton winning a very close race with Chad Everett door slamming him at the finish line and Robbie Hyde third. It was Hampton’s first ever main event win.

Quale’s Electronic Junior Stingers had a strong ten car field. After plenty of racing action, happening in her rear view mirror, KC Gillogly won driving away. The “Young Gun” Russell Dalton held of Jason Quale for second.

Budweiser Super Stocks brought more fireworks as Jenna Quale got caught in big trouble on the front stretch and ended up in the wall. Later in the race Kris McKean tangled with Daniel Shirley sending Shirley off the backstretch and over turn four. He went to the rear of the field and Jeff Pohlman drove on to victory with Casey Pehrson second.

Project Filter Street Stocks had the crowd watching yet another car in the wall as Kamie Nuthak tagged it mired in traffic. Brandon Thomas held on as Kendall Woll put the heat on after the restart winning his first ever Project Filter main event.

Pepsi Winged Sprints demonstrated the power and noise that comes from winged sprints on the asphalt. Don Kithcart was the class of the field winning easily.

Trailer races began to wind up the evenings ambitious schedule bringing amazing excitement to the crowd by the destruction of various kinds of “trailers”. A fantastic fireworks celebration ended the night.

Next up at MVS Chester’s Snake Harley Davidson presents a night to honor the troops with a special Idaho National Guard celebration. The Idaho Army National Guard Commanding General will be landing his Blackhawk in the infield for opening ceremonies and there will also be a Harley Davidson “Round-up” featuring dozens of bikes parading around the speedway at intermission.
