
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — It was a busy Independence Day Weekend in ASA Racing. Many ASA Member Tracks and Sanctioned Series were in action.
Here is a look at what happened this past weekend in ASA Racing
ASA MIDWEST TOUR
Marshfield Motor Speedway (Marshfield, WI)
For the second time in the past three events, the ASA Midwest Tour's main event went caution-free. For the second time in the last two events, a local weekly competitor beat the best on his home track as Jason Weinkauf held off Nick Murgic and Tim Schendel to win the Marshfield 100 this past Saturday night. Andrew Morrissey finished fourth while Ross Kenseth finished 14th. Morrissey now holds an 18-point lead over Kenseth in the standings. The top-seven are separated by 100 points.
ASA MIDWEST TRUCK TOUR
Madison International Speedway (Oregon, WI)
Austin Luedtke ended the Lefthander Chassis truck streak as he won the 40-lap feature event on Friday night in his Pathfinder Chassis truck. He held off Chad Wood by half a truck length for his first ever win in the series. Rick Corso was third.
ASA INTERSTATE RACING ASSOCIATION SPRINT CAR SERIES
Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway (Beaver Dam, WI)
141 Speedway (Francis Creek, WI)
Mike Reinke won the Rick Schmidt Memorial on Friday night at Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway while Scotty Neitzel won the non-points A-Main. On Sunday, they visited 141 Speedway where Billy Balog won his seventh event of the season.
ASA MEMBER TRACKS
ACE SPEEDWAY (Altamahaw, NC)
Ryan Blaney made a late race pass on Jay Fogleman to win the PASS Series Firecracker 150 on Friday night. Josh Morris won the Legends main event while Jarrett Andretti won the 40-lap USAC Midgets feature event. Jay Fogleman's son, Tate, won the Bandolero feature and 12-year-old Cody Timm held off a last lap move on Jody Messmer to win the CCS Sportsman feature.
CORPUS CHRISTI SPEEDWAY (Corpus Christi, TX)
Alex Yepez continues to dominate the Front Runners as he won another feature this past Saturday night. Lisa Sandoval grabbed the checkered flag in the Texas Thunders while Lee Vincent won in the Bombers. Greg Carlucci Jr. won in the Super Streets and Anthony Monroe won in the Sport Mods.
DESOTO SUPER SPEEDWAY (Bradenton, FL)
Desoto hosted their annual Crash & Bash this past Saturday night. Winners were Mike Amo, who won V-8 Flag Pole race and 50-lap Enduro. Christopher Dodson won the Skid Car race while Larry Saffold won the School Bus Figure 8 and the 4-Cyl Road Course events. Eric Wallace won the 4-Cyl Pole Race and Ronald Sorenson Jr. won the 4-Cyl Enduro. Phil Hines won the Reverse Race and Michael Gamache won the Boat Trailer Race.
DILLON MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Dillon, SC)
Logan Bunning was the winner in the Southeastern Limited Late Models feature event this past Saturday night. AJ Walsh won the Southeastern Limited Late Model Challenger Series main event while Kevin Jackson won the 4-Cylinder feature. Randy Hall won in the Old Fashioned Street Stocks and William Hainey won in the Chargers. Carl Britt won the Mini Cup Stock feature and Matt Corbett won in the Mini Cup Mods.
EAST BAY RACEWAY PARK (Tampa, FL)
Was off during the holiday weekend but will be back in action on Saturday, July 9.
GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY (Elma, WA)
Josh DeWitt won the Firecracker 30 360 Sprint car main event on Saturday night over Mitch Olson and Jared Peterson. Garret Johnson won the Ford Focus Midgets A-Main while Henry Corbin III won in the Dwarf Cars. Eddie Blood won the Hornet feature.
HARTFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Hartford, MI)
The racing action was rained out this past Friday night.
I-25 SPEEDWAY (Pueblo, CO)
This week it was Dan Alamaa holding off Aaron Paulsen to win the Grand American Modified feature event. Cole Roberson took home the checkered flag in the Street Stocks while Don Callendar won in the Hornets. Danny Medina was the winner in the Legends.
ILLIANA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Schererville, IN)
Eddie Hoffman made it two wins in a row as he won the Molenaar Classic this past Saturday night, holding off Jeff Cannon and John Nutley for the win. Alex Arelano won another Legends feature while Bill Serviss was the big winner in the Turbo Stox. Stan Zolodz won in the Bandoleros.
LEBANON I-44 SPEEDWAY (Lebanon, MO)
It was back-to-back wins for Chrissy Wallace as she won the Firecracker 50 this past Saturday night with a late race pass on Ken Dickinson for the win. Jimmy Vanzandt was third. Tyler Scott won in the Modifieds while Rick Sharp swept up the night in the Sportsman. Dustin Reeves did the same in the Road Warriors and Josh Ratliff won in the Chargers.
LONESOME PINE RACEWAY (Coeburn, VA)
A great crowd was on hand to watch John McClanahan win the Pure 4's feature while Kirby Gobbie won in the Mod 4's. Roger Neece won the Street Stock main event and Hayden Woods won in the Legends. Mike Breeding was the winner in the Renegades.
MARSHFIELD MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Marshfield, WI)
Three support divisions competed with the ASA Midwest Tour this past Saturday night. Phil Malouf won the Midwest Mod 4's feature while Harry Bell won the Bandit feature event. Ryan Hinner extended his point lead with his win in the Super Stocks.
MERIDIAN SPEEDWAY (Meridian, ID)
Meridian Speedway hosted three days of racing action this past weekend. On Saturday, Dylan Caldwell won the Late Model Sportsman feature while Phil Zubrizareta won in the Legends. Dell Scott won in the Mini Stocks and Bucket List won the Thunder Dogs main. Randy Tolsma won the Hall of Fame Shootout and Carl Marcum won the Spectacular Drags. On Sunday, Jeremy Doss won the Legends main event in a special matinee race. On Monday night, Sierra Jackson picked up her fourth win in five starts in the Winged Sprintcars as she held off Johnny Geisler for the win. Dwaine Swanson won the Legends National Qualifier while Rus Ward held off Jentry Pisca and Shelby Stroebel for the win in the ASA Modifieds. Melissa Weaver won again in the Street Stocks and Brock Nelson won in the Hornets.
NEWPORT MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Newport, TN)
Jerrod Foley and David Flynn each won a Super Late Model feature event on a special Friday night event. Ray Frazier was the big winner in the Mod 4's while Adam Boatman won in the Legends. Ricky Brown Jr. won in the Street Stocks and Shane Thomas won in the Front Wheel Drive division.
NORWAY SPEEDWAY (Norway, MI)
Dan Lindsley came from the rear of the field to take the lead away from Parker May to win the Roy Allard Memorial Classic this past Friday night. Tim Schultz won in the Super Stocks and Fran Berube won in the DQ-Dogs.
ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY (San Bernardino, CA)
John Manke won the Super Late Model feature this past Saturday night. Matt Hicks was second with Mark Shackleford was third. Jesse Lawson won in the Late Models with Michael Reid winning in the Pony Stocks. Tom Whitson on in the Stock Cars USA division while Steve Smith won in the Super Stocks. Matt Hicks won in the Legends and Ricky Schlick won in the Bandoleros.
RED RIVER SPEEDWAY (Wichita Falls, TX)
Will be back in action on Saturday, July 9 after taking the holiday weekend off.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACEWAYS (West Valley City, UT)
The USAC Sprints and Midgets visited RMR this past Saturday night. Cody Gerhardt held off Johnny Giesler for USAC Sprint win while Jimmy Waters won in the Ford Focus Midgets. Mike Wade won in the Super Stocks and Tracy Eaton won in the Figure-8 Cars. Train Six Feet Under won in the Figure-8 Trains.
SHANGRI-LA II MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Tioga Center, NY)
Fans were treated to great racing action and fireworks this past Saturday night. Travis Fisher won the made up ASA Late Model feature while Lee Sharpsteen won the Street Stock feature, which was a RoC qualifier. Jimmy Zacharias won the Sportsman Modified feature over John Wilbur. In the ASA Late Model feature, which was also a RoC qualifier, Joe Brown won the feature over Joseph Burns and Josh Lloyd. Sharpsteen then returned to win another Street Stock feature.
SKAGIT SPEEDWAY (Burlington, WA)
Skagit Speedway was off for the holiday but will be back in action on Saturday, July 9.
SOUTHERN OREGON SPEEDWAY (Medford, OR)
Travis Peery took home the feature wins in the Modified feature this past Saturday night. Brian Johnsen won in the Pro Stocks and R.J. McGahuey picked up the win in the Dwarf Cars. John Derby collected the win in the Mini Stocks.
STATE PARK SPEEDWAY (Wausau, WI)
Ben Pettis took home his second feature win in the Super Late Model division this past Thursday night as he held off Mark Mackesy for the win. Natalie Decker won the Super Stock feature while Travis Volm won in the Pure Stocks. John Lietz won in the four cylinder division.
VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Jamaica, VA)
Enjoyed the holiday weekend off but will be back in action on Saturday, July 9.
WILMOT RACEWAY (Wilmot, WI)
Six divisions were in action this past Saturday night. Erik Grosch won in the Pro Fours while Carl Sturt won in the Fearless Fours. Dustin Holland took home the win in the Street Stocks and Tommy Sexton won in the Sprints over Nick Alden. Chris Carlson won in the Modifieds and Nick Petska won in the Mini Sprints.
YAKIMA SPEEDWAY (Yakima, WA)
Yakima had three great days of racing this past weekend. On Saturday, the winners were Owen Riddle in the Super Late Models, Mike Hill in the Sportsman, Josh Washington in the Hornets, and Donnie Stevens won in the Bump to Pass division. On Sunday, the winners were Mel Patnode in the Washington Street Stock Challenge, Rob Allen in the Pure Stocks, and Josh Washington in the Hornets. And on Monday, the winners were Josh Washington in the Hornets, Jake Breshears in the Compact Cars, Chris Richter Jr. and Josh Parmentier in the Demo Derby, Rita Trujillo in the Hornet Powder Puff, Melisa Cooley in the Hornet Powder Puff, Ben Briggs in the Backwards Race, Chris Richter Sr in the Mechanics race, and Rita Trujillo in the Officials race. Donnie Stevens and Kyle Wade tied for the win in the Boat Race.
