HASA POOL PRODUCTS/NAPA GOLD FILTERS TOYOTA RACE RECAP FROM TOYOTA SPEEDWAY
Hasa car comes in for green flag pitstop.

ANTELOPE, California — Moses Smith, pilot of the No. 16 HASA Pool Products/NAPA Gold Filters Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing finished in 12th at Toyota Speedway. His finish keeps him solidly in second place in the 2011 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship.

"Moses Smith is second in the chase."

Starting of the weekend with a NASCAR Fan fest and Hauler Parade on the historic Route 66, Smith was excited about making his 60th career start in the NKNP Series West. Having over 300 Hasa customers and fans on hand made the weekend even better.

With the thermometer soaring at the 100+ mark, both practice session had the No. 16 Hasa Toyota in eleventh. Smith qualified in 13th to start the 200-lap race.

Often with lap times in pace with the leader, Smith cruised thru the first 100-laps. There was a planned half-way break at lap 102 where the Hasa team went to work making adjustments to the No. 16 Hasa Toyota. Smith reported in to crew chief Mario Isola that the Hasa Toyota was “free in the center and free off”. Isola had the team make a track bar adjustment and Smith was back underway in 13th. Still battling a handling issue, Isola called Smith to pit road at lap 160 while under caution. Not losing positions, Smith restarted in 12th. Thirty-five laps of green flag racing had the No. 16 battling for position to finally take the checkered in 12th.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will be at Evergreen Speedway July 9th and 10th in Monroe, Washington. This will be the series first visit since 2008. At that last visit, Smith started in ninth and finished in 7th. During his first visit to Evergreen the previous year, he started in 16th and finished in 6th. The track is located at the fairgrounds in Monroe and has hosted 50 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West events dating back to 1964. Smith looks to add his name to the long and highly regarded list of racer winners that came before him which includes BMR alumni, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Brendan Gaughan who has back-to-back wins in at Evergreen.

Set your DVRs. The NKNP West Series race from Infineon can be seen on Thursday July 14th at 3 pm PT on SPEED Channel. Catch the race from Toyota Speedway on Thursday July 21st and the upcoming race from Evergreen Speedway on Thursday July 28th.
