It’s been a long dry spell for Jeff Barkshire and the 46 team. “It certainly hasn’t been due to a lack of desire,” Jeff explained, speaking for both himself and the team, “but to a lack of funds.” The only full K&N Pro Series season run by the 46 Dodge was 2008, when they achieved 3rd in the overall points standing, and won the Sunoco Rookie of the Year title. Since then, in this rough economy, funding has been a struggle, and they’ve been able to run only a few races the past two seasons. “We got it together for the 2010 Phoenix race,” Jeff said, “but unfortunately ended up in the wall with major damage to the car. We had depleted what little funds we had, and haven’t raced since.”

“It’s been really tough to not be out there racing,” Jeff said. “So we’re thrilled that, thanks to Renton Coil Spring and Hershel Mcgriff stepping up with sponsorship, we’ll be heading to Monroe on July 10th to defend our 08 win.” It was the last K&N Pro Series race run at Evergreen. “It’ll be great to be back in the seat,” Jeff said, “and the team members, who’ve been able to sharpen their skills recently back together as crew for Hershel Mcgriff, are also raring to go. We were on a winner’s high when we were last there, and hope to repeat our success next weekend”
The 46 team is hopeful the Evergreen race will serve to reinvigorate the program and enable them to run more races this season. The next local race will be in Spokane on September 3rd, and, in Jeff’s words, “We’re hoping to be there!”
