ANTELOPE, California — The No. 16 Hasa Pool Products/NAPA Gold Filters Toyota Camry, driven by Moses Smith brought home a fourth place finish at Portland International Raceway. Smith and the Hasa team turned their previous Portland bad luck around at the 1.967-mile road course and recorded their best finish in three visits.

"I have to thank the over 450 Hasa fans for coming out and being a part of our team."Moses Smith

On the first day of the two-day event, Smith and the Hasa Toyota team were eleventh and tenth in the practice sessions as they fine tuned the race car for the next day’s qualifying run and race. Smith put the Hasa entry on the outside of row five to begin the scheduled 63-lap race.

Smith ran in the top ten during the first 17 laps. The first caution came out when a car blew a motor, oiling down a portion of the road course. Crew chief Mario Isola called Smith to pit road at lap 20 to pack the No. 16 Hasa Toyota with fuel. When the field went back to green flag racing, Smith was in sixth and a lap later moved up to fourth.

During the second caution at lap 30, Smith returned to pit road for tires. Green flag racing resumed with the No. 16 now in seventh. By lap 50, the No. 16 Hasa Toyota was back in fourth. However, as the final laps wound down, Smith radioed in that the handling of the car was ‘all over the place’. At lap 62, he had lost a couple of spots. It would be a green-white-checkered finish with Smith once again surging forward to finish in fourth.

“The passing was tough but I think we did pretty well,” said Smith. “We managed to finish in fourth and stay second in the points. Overall it was a great weekend. I have to thank the over 450 Hasa fans for coming out and being a part of our team.”
