CLOSE BATTLES MARK MID-SEASON AT ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY

All American Speedway shifts into their second rain makeup date this Saturday (July 30) featuring Modified Twin 50’s, Street Stocks and Bombers 35 lap main events.Half way through the season, with eight championship races left, the points battles continue to rise as drivers are eager to provide solid finishes to grab a hold of the 2011 All American Speedway Championship.

The NASCAR Late Models will be taking a break this weekend and will return August 6th with a 100 lap main event. Matt Scott, in first, and Jason Romero, in second, continue to battle it out for the top spot. Scott with four feature wins and Romero with six feature wins are separated by just 34 points.

With nine points races on the books, the Bomber division will contest their 10th championship points race this weekend contesting a 35 lap feature. Points leader Chris Paulson and second place Erick Ray continue to race for the top spot as the two are separated by 37 points. Chris Paulson carries six feature wins and Erick Ray holds two feature wins as the division heads into race No. 10.

In the Modified division Dan Jinkerson continues to lead the way in points. Scott Winters has dominated this season with five feature wins, however one bad finish and one missed race allowed Jinkerson to take the lead. Rookie Steve Cote is in the mix with two feature wins, closing the gap with Scott Winters as the top three drivers go all out heading into twin 50s this weekend.

The Street Stock division will contest their 10th points race this weekend with Mickey Owens as the division leader. Mickey Owens with two wins and Richard Poppert Jr. with three feature wins leaves the two drivers separated by a mere 15 points, heading into this weekend.

Catch up with the AAS crew this weekend at the California State Fair. The Speedway display will consist of a giant aerial shot of the one-third mile track, the official NASCAR Toyota pace truck, an All American NASCAR Late Model car with driver on display and a variety of promotional handouts. Be sure to stop by and support your local home track and take photos with the Late Model and driver display or the Pace truck.

Pit Gates and Registration opens at noon with practice starting at 2pm. The Grandstands open at 4pm with qualifying set for 4pm and green flag racing at 6pm. Ticket prices for the evening will be as follows:

Adults (16-59) $13

Seniors (60+), Juniors (6-15) $7

Kids 6 & Under FREE

Family Pass (2 Adults, 3 Jrs) $35
