DACONO, Colorado —Colorado National Speedway will host the K&N Pro Series West race on Saturday, August 6th. With 22 pre-race entries this 150 lap event is sure to once again prove to be an action packed highlight of the 2011 racing season.

Among the entries in attendance will be West series’ points leader, Greg Pursley #26 of Newhall, CA. Pursley is looking for his 7th victory of the season and will no doubt be challenged by 2nd place Moses Smith #16, who is hot on his heels. Also returning to defend his 2010 win at Colorado National Speedway is veteran Eric Holmes in the #20 machine.

Representing his home track, 2010 CNS Late Model Champion, Ronnie Hults in the #52 will be participating in his first West Series race and is sure to be a fan favorite.

New comer to the West series is 2010 Bright House Challenge Series Rookie of the Year, Ben Kennedy in the #96 Chevrolet. Kennedy also happens to be the great grandson of legendary NASCAR founder, Bill France and son of NASCAR board member Lesa France Kennedy. Ms. Kennedy will be at the speedway to support her son in his first Pro Series West event.

NASCAR vice president, regional and touring series, Mr. George Silbermann, will also be in town to kick off the weekend on Friday, August 5th by attending the first ever NASCAR Green Clean Air tree planting ceremony for a Whelen All-American Series track.

Colorado National Speedway is the first short-track to host this new clean air initiative with the actual planting of 70 trees to benefit the City of Dacono Parks & Recreation Department.

The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 5th. “We are excited to see this environmental program become a part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, with it we are literally taking root in the Dacono community,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR vice president, regional and touring series. Colorado National Speedway is honored to host both Ms. Kennedy and Mr. Silbermann for these events.
