KEVIN RICHARDS 2011 NAPA AUTO PARTS IDAHO 200 WINNER

On a very warm and cloudless day in North Idaho race teams geared up for today’s main event the 12 running of the Napa Auto Parts Idaho 200. Following an open autograph section on the front stretch for all the fans that were present for today’s big race drivers returned to pit road and made last minute preparations for race time. Starting off first the NW Outlaw Compacts took to the track for their 40 lap main event. Compact drivers lined up and took the green flag and the action began right at lap one. Rusty Webb #29 opened a lead and looked like the car to beat, after nine laps Brad Rhoades passed Webb and remained out front for fourteen laps. Chad Benjamin #12 starting in the rear of the field made his way to the front and stayed there for the remaining 16 laps and the main event trophy. Ceremonies began with drivers introduced on the new speedway portable stage one by one for this year’s 200. RMCS driver Zan Sharp #84 began the afternoon on the pole; focused Sharp strapped in and set the pace for the field of 26 cars. Sharp broke out from the field quickly and remained out front for the first 56 laps when past winner Kevin Richards #116 Richards and Dave Garber #93 picked their way through the field and put pressure on Sharp. Richards took the lead from Sharp on lap 57 and held the position not long before Dave Garber passed Richards on the inside and took over as the leader on lap 58 and remained up front till the half way caution on lap 100. During the break the NW Pro Four Trucks took to the track for the Bill Sauls Memorial 30 lap main event. Scott Waulters #88 Jumped to an early lead and remained the leader for the first 10 laps before finally loosening the lead to Jerry Buel #55. Buel advance out front and was challenged once by Terry Warren #58 and take the checker flag win. Buel received his first main event win ever in eleven years of racing and present in the pits with him this weekend for her first time at the track his daughter Jenna. Super Late Model drivers entered the track for the final segment of the 200 with Dave Garber leading the field to start lap 101. Garber remained out front with Richards in second and Sharp third. After a caution slowed the field on lap 115 Garber set the pace for the field and exited turn four and the green flag in the air leader Dave Garber and Lynn Hardy made contact with each other at the flag stand put to the rear of the field for the restart on lap 115. Kevin Richards once agan found the #116 back up front and remain out front for the remaining 85 laps and take home the 2011 Napa Auto Parts Idaho 200.
