LADIES NIGHT AT EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY AUG 13

MONROE, Washingon — On Saturday night August 13 at Evergreen Speedway it is Seattle RV presents USG Ladies Night at the Races. All ladies will be admitted free and men wearing pink for Breast Cancer Awareness will get $2 off. There will be a walk around the track to raise money for the Susan G Komen Foundation. ‘Racing for the Cure’ will feature the return to the 3/8-mile paved oval for the Speedway Chevrolet NASCAR Whelen All American Series Super Late Models for twin 50’s. The Super Late Models have not been on 3/8 since it was reconditioned. Actually they have not been on the short track since April 16. In addition the Les Schwab Tires NASCAR Street Stocks and Foster Press NASCAR Mini-Stocks are back in action on the 3/8-mile after their first time on the new surface a few weeks ago. In both divisions long standing track records were broken.

Naima Lang the hottest Super Late Model driver in the Northwest will be vying to keep his 7 in a row win streak going. Lang like the other competitors in the Super Late Model Division has not raced on the shorter 3/8-mile oval since April 16. Since that time the track was reconditioned and will be a foreign surface to race on. The division has been racing regularly on the BIG 5/8-mile for the last months. A completely different setup is needed for the 3/8 combined with the unknown factor of the reconditioning will be a challenge for all teams.

The Street Stocks have raced on the new surface once. Two drivers broke the track qualifying record on July 30. There is the strong likelihood that the record will fall again this week. Joe Kneeland the point’s leader in the chase for the 2011 division title is being closely hounded by Steve Ptacek and defending title holder Lane Sundholm.

As with the Street Stocks the Mini-Stock Division has raced once on the short track since its reconditioning. Three drivers broke the old qualifying mark. Scott LaCross the current leader for the division championship was one of those under the old time. Defending champion Kris Harriss is second in points and is in hot pursuit of another crown.

Pre-race activities start at 5pm. There will be the chance for fans to walk the new 3/8-mile oval and get a look at what the drivers will be challenged by. The money raised from the walkers will go to benefit the cure for breast cancer. Plus there will be pink items for sale including special for the night pink Evergreen Speedway hats with the new logo with proceeds going to the ‘Race for the Cure’.

Ladies will be admitted free and men wearing pink will get $2 off their adult admission. If you don’t have pink the speedway hats will be available for sale outside the ticket window. Front gates will open at 4pm with pre-race activities and Fanfest with the walk at 5pm. Racing commences at 6pm. For tickets call 360-805-6100 or go to the web page at www.evergreenspeedway.com.
