GAFFORINI SWEEPS TWIN METROPCS NASCAR SUPER LATE MODEL FEATURES AT THE BULLRING AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Scott Gafforini of Las Vegas swept both MetroPCS NASCAR Super Late Model features tonight at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Brodie Kostecki of Perth, Australia and Garrett Peterson won the twin USAC Focus Midget features.

FIRST METROPCS NASCAR SUPER LATE MODEL FEATURE: Scott Gafforini took the lead from polesitter Jay Beasley on lap 2. The caution flag flew on lap 18 for an accident in Turn 3 involving Glen Burke, Steve Anderson and Jeff Bargerhuff. Burke's car was towed from the scene with rear-end damage. Anderson and Bargerhuff were able to continue. Robert Ewing lined up behind Gafforini on the restart and the battle for the winner's paycheck was on. The action got a little too close on lap 26 and Gafforini spun and Ewing was sent to the rear of the field. After a number of spins, the race hit the 30-minute time limit and the checkered flag was thrown on lap 33. Gafforini sored the win, followed by Steve Anderson, David Anderson, Jeremiah Wagner and Ewing.

SECOND METROPCS NASCAR SUPER LATE MODEL FEATURE: Robert Ewing took the lead on the opening green flag. Once again the feature turned into a two-car battle between Gafforini and Ewing. With three laps remaining, the pair ecountered a trio of lapped cars. On the next-to-last lap, Gafforini dipped his fender below Ewing's car and took the lead. Following Gafforini across the finish line were Ewing, Steve Anderson, Jeremiah Wagner and Chris Birdsong.

Jason Kiser won the 30-lap NASCAR Bomber feature and scored his third victory of the season. Wade Pearson was second and Pete Meyer was third. NASCAR Bomber heat races were won by Bret Empey and Nathan Boss.

Patrick O'Hanley won the 30-lap NASCAR Charger feature ahead of James Wingard and Don Sargent. Heat races were won by Matt Cunningham, Nathan Boss and Wingard.

Dustin Ash won the Thunder Roadster feature by a nose over Robert D'Ambra. Travis Boyle finished third. The 20-lap thriller was a battle of the red cars as teammates D'Ambra and Ash raced side-by-side for much of the race and swapped the lead several times.

The 25-lap Legend Cars feature hit its time limit and ended on lap 22. Justin Irwin scored his sixth win of the year, followed by Michael Abbate and Josh Fultz.

The twin 30-lap USAC Focus Midget features were won by Brodie Kostecki and Garrett Peterson. Kostecki also won both USAC Young Gun Midget features.

Kayli Barker won the 12-lap Bandolero Outlaw feature, followed across the finish line by Patrick Camburn and Austin Morris. Matt Emery won his fourth 12-lap Bandolero Bandit feature of the 2011 season. Caden Carlin recovered from an early spin to race back to second place and Austin Toddy was third.
