GALLOWAY 125 SET FOR AUG 27 AT ES

MONROE, Washington — Saturday August 27 at Evergreen Speedway the 1st Annual Mark Galloway Memorial 125 for the Speedway Chevrolet NASCAR Whelen All American Series (Open/Crate Motor) Super Late Models on the BIG 5/8-mile paved oval. The Northwest best late model racers are scheduled go after the $3000 winners share of the $20,000 purse plus contingencies awards. In addition the Northwest Legends, Extreme V-8’s will be joined by the Stinger 8’s. The racing begins at 6pm as part of the 2011 Evergreen State Fair.

The 125-lap super late model race on the monster 5/8-mile has drawn many of the top drivers including the return to his home track after over a year away, Gary Lewis one of the best touring drivers in the country with an ASA (American Speed Association), an ARCA west and a NASCAR championship during his years touring the west coast. Another great touring driver, Ron Eaton returns after a long time away from the ‘Northwest Center of NASCAR Racing’, has four NASCAR touring championships and more wins as a late model racer than anybody scheduled for this prestigious event.

Current Evergreen Speedway and Big West Series point leader Naima Lang hopes to continue his 2011 season domination on the BIG track. Lang has won seven of this season’s eight races on the BIG track and ten of the thirteen races for the super late models. Another win or strong finish of the 125 by Lang will gain him the first ever ‘Big West Series’ championship and the 6 foot trophy.

Other drivers to watch of the many scheduled will be the most recent division winner Tom Hughes who won his first ever late model feature. Daniel Moore the WSU student who has won twice this season with one of those on the 5/8-mile. Kelly Mann who will be fresh off double header wins at South Sound Speedway. Jeff Knight who has come so close is overdue. Billy Webber had a BIG track win a few years ago. These are just few to be watching.

The new bump to pass division the Extreme V-8’s never know until close to race time what type of event they will be running. The last time out they held a ‘Cat & Mouse’ feature and the time before that a ‘Flagpole’ main. Always a crowd pleasure, this division is growing with the car count doubled of what started the season.

The Northwest Legends series had nineteen cars the last they time visited the ‘Super Speedway of the West’. They will be racing on the 3/8-mile oval.

The Stinger 8 division will be on the fast and furious figure eight track where ‘Highways 2 and 522 Collide’. These 4 cylinder powered daredevils of the dreaded X will be racing for 40-laps that is 80-times through the X.

All the action begins at 6pm with front gates opening at 4pm. The 2011 Evergreen State Fair is underway, come on out, enjoy a day at the fair and an evening of the best NASCAR racing on the 5/8; 3/8 mile ovals and on the fast figure eight track.
