CHOWCHILLA, California — The final night of the LunkerDaddy Tri-Holiday Classic thrilled fans and tested drivers. The track was fast and smooth, and so were the drivers in the qualifying heat races, but when the drivers took the track for the main events more than $2,150 of 1st place money was on the line, and more than $7,500 in total prize money was up for grabs, so one could feel the intensity increase ten- fold.
"In the Dwarf division Cameron Diatte won in a tough race over the hard charging Gene Pires."
With more than $20,000 paid out during the Tri-Holiday Classic and the final LunkerDaddy cash on the line, the “non-contact” 4-Banger division took the race track to kick off the main events. Adrian Desouza took control of the race early after a good fight with Dave Cong, Roy Hart Sr. was impressive as was Johnny Tevis, both had to fight their way through the pack to finish up front. I guess the best way to sum up this race was it started with a roll over, and ended with a roll over! The race director was horse from talking with aggressive drivers after the race. Desouza won the $150 paycheck!
The Sport mods have become the headliner of the local program at the Chowchilla Speedway, and with 16 great looking Sport Mods taking the green flag for the $500 to win main event it is clear this class is moving forward. Mitch Enos, Ray Mayer, Bob Williamson and Mike Drake were the class of the field on this night, but Robert Witner ran up front wire to wire to take the $500 check home for the victory showing he was king of this Sport Mod night.
Nick Silva, Marshall Weaver and Ryan Hart have had a great rivalry in this Tri-Holiday Series, but it was the Watsonville driver that came out on top of this battle winning the $500 paycheck and the LunkerDaddy Championship, that’s right Nick Silva won the main holding off a hard charging Weaver!
In the Super Stock division is was Marshall Weaver and Roy Hart Jr. swapping paint (and a little sheet metal), the last race was won by Weaver, but this battle was won by Hart after he used his front bumper on Weaver. Fans appreciated this battle as it has been one of the best of the year!
