
VENTURA, California — The Ventura Racing Association’s 360 Sprint Car Series will be back in action this Saturday, September 10th at Jim Naylor’s Ventura Raceway. In addition, the Senior Sprints, Dwarf Cars, Mod Lites, Mod Lite Juniors, Sport Compacts, Junior Midgets, and Mini Dwarfs will share the spotlight. The Pit Gates will open at noon, Front Gates open at 3:00pm with Racing at "The Best Little Dirt Track In America" to begin at 5:30pm.

Heading into Saturday’s event, fifteen races have been contested with eight different drivers scoring feature wins. Troy Rutherford leads all drivers on the circuit with six triumphs as Steve Conrad and Greg Taylor have two wins apiece. Brian Camarillo, Don Gansen, Cory Kruseman, Matt Mitchell, and Brody Roa have also claimed victory.
Ventura’s Greg Taylor leads the point chase with a 230 point advantage over the competition. Driving the #7 Clark Engineering Construction / Westco International Consulting Inc. special, Taylor had a tough night on August 27th, scoring a twentieth place finish. To date, the 2007 Champion has seven heat race victories, two hard charger awards, and eleven top-10 finishes on the year. Look for Taylor to rebound on Saturday as he continues his championship run.
Camarillo's Josh Ford is second in the championship standings. On August 27th, the pilot of the #73 King Racing Products / A&A Precision Machining entry came home fifth at the checkered flags. The former USAC National Sprint Car Rookie of the Year has four heat race victories, one hard charger award, and thirteen top-10 finishes on the season. Ford will have his sights set on his first main event victory of the year on Saturday.
Steve Conrad of Quartz Hill sits third in the point chase. Driving the #56 Roy Miller Freightlines / SC Grafix machine, Conrad was sixth in the August 27th “Vendor’s Cup.” The former USAC TQ Midget graduate has one heat race victory, three hard charger awards, and twelve top-10 finishes to his credit. Conrad will be looking to add another feature win to his resume on Saturday.
Camarillo’s Brian Camarillo is fourth in the point standings. Piloting the #22 Agromin Soil / Waste Management special, Brian took forth in the August 27th feature. In 2011, the young driver has seven heat race victories, one semi-main win, and nine top-10 finishes on the year. Camarillo will have his eyes set on the Saturday win at Ventura Raceway.
Don Gansen of Rialto is fifth in the championship points. At the “Vendor’s Cup,” driver of the #7G Gansen Motorsports Sprinter had problems and did not start the main event. To date, the California Lightning Sprint graduate has two heat race victories, one hard charger award, and nine top-10 finishes on the season. Gansen will look to rebound with a Ventura feature win on Saturday.
Among the other top contenders expected to be in action are Camarillo’s Brent Camarillo, Ojai's Derek Buckley, Ventura’s Cory Kruseman, Jimmy Crawford of Newbury Park, Ojai's Troy Rutherford, Brandon Thomson of Norwalk, Santa Clarita's Guy Woodward, and many more.
