This Saturday, September 10 marks NASCAR Whelen All American Series Championship points race No.16 with only two races remaining for the 2011 season at All American Speedway. The Speedway will host a First Responders Night honoring the victims and heroes of the tragic attacks of 9/11 anniversary. All First Responders including firefighters, law enforcement, emergency medical personnel and their dispatchers will receive complimentary general admission to the stands with ID or in uniform. First Responders Night will be presenting NASCAR Modifieds twin 50’s, Bombers and Street Stocks 35 laps as well as joining the championship series will be USAC Young Guns and Ford Focus Midgets. With Saturday temperatures expected in the mid 90’s, the points chase will be coming down to the wire with heated racing action as the season prepares to come to a close.

"Five First Responder individuals will be participating in this weekend’s racing events by experiencing the thrill and excitement of racing. "

Five First Responder individuals will be participating in this weekend’s racing events by experiencing the thrill and excitement of racing. Fire Chief Wynn Latta, Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Carman, Police Chief Daniel Hahn, Police Captain Stefan Moore, and Sheriff Lt. John Savage will all be passengers in five different Bombers experiencing the feeling of being on the edge of racing. Fire fighting equipment will be presented on track during open ceremonies. There will be fire trucks, the ladder truck as well as the 9/11 monument display with a piece of the actual trade center with a beautiful metal art work display of the twin towers overlooking the beam. Be sure to cheer on the five first responder representatives throughout the race day.

In the Street Stock division, Mickey Owens continues to hold the points lead over the field with a 26 point advantage over second place Richard Poppert Jr. Sitting quietly in third is Byron Gonzales with just 55 points from second. Dave Silva sits in fourth as Mel Wilson barely holds onto fifth. With just two races left for the division, and if Mickey Owens continues to provide solid results, he will run with the 2011 championship.

The last Late Model race saw a turn in points as runner up Jason Romero suffered his first DNF which threw a thorn to his points. After this race Matt Scott has locked in the 2011 championship with only one race left for the season. Romero sits just 42 points from Scott which cannot be made up in one race. Juan Pitta sits third with both Chris Scribner fourth and Rookie Dylan Hutchison fifth knocking on Pitta’s door. As the division winds down to the finale, the third spot is still up for grabs.

The unstoppable Dan Jinkerson has had a good run for points this year however with a set of 50’s and one race left the Canadian driver Steve Cote is not too far from first sitting just 52 points away. Andy Field is the new holder of third as Scott Winters slowly falls back in points since the division has not seen the number 24 car at the track for the last five races. Jason Bamberg will most likely be handed the fourth spot as he is only one point behind Winters.

Eight time Bomber feature winner, Chris Paulson locked in his 2011 championship after the wild night on August 6th when two drivers in second and third in points, Erick Ray and Matt Camp, were placed on probation, losing all competition points leading up to the event. This allowed Richard Perez to step into the second position however Joe Rhodes, in third, is only 24 points from second. Both Eric Bocksberger fourth and Cody Rickard fifth are also in the mix for second. Even though the championship is already crowned all the action is happening in second to fifth. With only two races remaining will Joe Rhodes be able to take second?
